5 fashion faux pas every groom-to-be should avoid

The man of the hour better look like it.

A wedding is as much about the groom and his fashion statement as it is about the bride and her ensemble. A groom's wedding ensemble planning is a lot more than just walking into the wedding wearing something 'ethnic' and/ or a suit and tie. While you may have read articles about everything a groom needs to keep in mind for his wedding attire, here we list five major fashion mistakes every groom-to-be should avoid.

Wearing a poorly-fitted or wrinkled outfit

A well-fitted outfit is quite underrated. While it make you look more dapper, it also shows that you’ve taken efforts to dress up. Whether you are wearing a suit, a tuxedo, a sherwani, or a kurta, it’s best you get your outfits fitted to the T. You don’t want to be wearing pants that are too high, or too long, a suit that’s baggy from your shoulders to the waist. You should also make sure your attire is wrinkle-free. You can choose a fabric that does not wrinkle easily or keep a steam iron handy.

Not following the theme

While fashion tips for grooms can vary depending on the type of wedding they've planned, the one rule that shouldn't be broken is staying true to the theme of the function. Wear a tuxedo for a black-tie event. And if you want to go down the colourful and vibrant route for your wedding, just don’t select a black-tie event.

Not coordinating with your partner

Just like the theme of the wedding, a groom must complement their bride as well. Take the time out to coordinate with the chosen colour palette. If they’ve chosen to dress in a bolder colour, the two of you would look great if you opt for a neutral shade. You might think it’s not going to make a difference, but trust us, seeing the reaction of your friends and loved ones will make you realise how important and touching it is to match with your partner.

Too many accessories

Too much of anything is always bad, so go easy on accessories. A mala here and a brooch there are meant to elevate your look, not make you look out of place. And if you’re going to wear a metal accessory—for example a watch, cuff link, etc, do ensure that you stick to one shade. A combination of colours would look rather shabby.

Not paying attention to the shoes

Shoes can really say a lot about the person wearing them, especially on their wedding day. You might think nobody’s going to be looking at your feet, but know that everyone looks at shoes. With new shoes always giving a shoe bite or blisters, wear them around for a few days that will make things far more comfortable at the wedding.
