Planning a pre-wedding shoot in the rain? Here's everything you need to know

To help you capture that picture-perfect moment amid the pitter-patter.

Monsoon is considered one of the most romantic seasons in India, and rightfully so. With its lush greenery, romantic aura, and breathtaking visuals, monsoons provide a perfect backdrop for a pre-wedding photo shoot. And while the setting can be incredibly romantic, it can just as easily turn into a logistical nightmare if not planned properly. But don't let that stop you from planning your dreamy pre-wedding shoot. Here are a few things to keep in mind to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Choose the right fabric and colours

Regardless of the weather, couples always want to look and feel their best for their pre-wedding photo shoot. During the monsoon season, opting for light fabrics that dry quickly is essential. Heavy, water-absorbing materials like silk and velvet should be avoided as they can become cumbersome when wet. Instead, the bride-to-be can choose a flowy dress, skirt, lehenga, or gown that not only looks elegant but also allows for comfort and ease of movement. Similarly, the groom-to-be can wear a light kurta or trousers paired with a jacket or waistcoat for a stylish yet practical look.

When selecting colours and shades, consider the lush green backdrop that monsoon often provides. Bold and bright colours like fuchsia, turquoise, and mustard can create a striking contrast against the verdant scenery. For those who want to harmonise with the natural surroundings, floral patterns and pastel shades are excellent choices. However, dark colours should be avoided as they may not stand out well in photographs.

Be careful about the make-up

Buy waterproof products to ensure your make-up is long-lasting and doesn't smudge. Choose matte make-up to help tackle humidity. Additionally, avoid applying a dewy finish that can make your skin look oily. Stick to neutral tones for eyeshadow and blush, and remember that too much of a good thing can be bad. Keep it light to avoid a cakey appearance.

An umbrella is the most important accessory

If you're looking for the perfect prop, you won't find a better one than an umbrella (plus, the couple stays dry). You can choose either a colourful umbrella or a transparent one. Despite being a cliché, it adds to the drama.

The right pose and locations

The mood and environment create numerous candid and heartfelt moments captured on camera. Imagine flowers, waterfalls, and abundant greenery, forming a spectacular backdrop. Whether amidst mountains, hills, a garden, or in front of a historic landmark, a pre-wedding photoshoot offers a visually stunning experience. Alongside poses, you can elevate the shoot by dancing in the rain or splashing in puddles. Opting for an indoor shoot is also popular, providing the couple comfort and privacy, allowing for multiple wardrobe changes without concern.
