It’s not every day that a DJ walks into a gig and finds out it’s the engagement party of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. But that’s just another day in the life of Arjun Shah—better known as DJ AJ in the wedding circuit. The spontaneity, the surprises, the adrenaline rush of moments like these are what define his journey.
He’s the DJ people book years in advance, the one who had the crowd grooving at every single event in Radhika and Anant Ambani’s lavish wedding, and a familiar face at nearly every celebrity celebration. Over the years, DJ AJ has cemented his reputation as the ultimate go-to for high-profile weddings, bringing electric energy and unforgettable tunes to the biggest parties. But what truly sets him apart are the behind-the-scenes stories—moments of chaos, magic, and spontaneity—that only he can narrate.
Shah shares one of the most unforgettable celebrations he’s been a part of—the grand wedding of Radhika and Anant Ambani. “The vibe was insane. You had DJ Black Coffee on one side, David Guetta on the other, and then me. The pressure was unreal, but once I got started, it was magic. By the end of it, everyone loved my set!” he says with a laugh. For him, the highlight was seeing everyone have a great time, especially the couple. “It was incredible. I was just glad that Anant and Radhika were happy—that’s what mattered most.”
Now that we know Shah was the one making celebrity parties come alive at these events, we couldn’t help but wonder who, according to him, brings the most energy to Bollywood parties. Without missing a beat, he names Ranveer Singh. “He’s the craziest party person I’ve ever seen—full of energy and always hyping everyone up,” Shah shares with a grin.
When it comes to wedding music trends, AJ has pretty much seen it all. From timeless Bollywood classics that always get the crowd moving to unexpected requests for Latin beats at international weddings, the music landscape keeps evolving. “A few years ago, techno at weddings would have been unheard of. But now, it’s almost a staple at luxury weddings. It’s not just about Bollywood anymore; couples want to mix it up with Latin beats, international tracks, and even niche genres.” At international weddings, Latin music often takes the spotlight—it’s their version of Bollywood, and AJ loves experimenting with those cultural elements to keep things fresh and fun.
Whether it’s creating a Bollywood-techno fusion or playing an original Afro mix that leaves everyone talking, DJ AJ knows how to keep the dance floor alive. His secret? “Read the crowd, feel the energy, and just go with it. Once you’re in the zone, everything else fades away.”
What really sets AJ apart is his ability to tailor his sets to every crowd. Having worked with clients from all over the world, he knows that every wedding has its own vibe.
At the end of the day, his goal is simple: to create memories. Weddings only happen once, and AJ’s focus is on making those moments unforgettable, ensuring every celebration feels as special as it deserves to be.
Even with years of experience under his belt, AJ admits he still feels the pressure before a big set. “Every single time, I get stage fright,” he shares honestly. “You never know how the crowd is going to react—especially at weddings, where it’s so personal. It’s not just a party; it’s someone’s big day. But the moment I start playing and see people vibing, all of that fades away. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
For AJ, it’s never just about the music—it’s about crafting moments that linger long after the last song ends. Weddings are once-in-a-lifetime celebrations, and his mission is to turn them into unforgettable memories etched in the hearts of the couple and everyone who shares the dance floor.
