Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to Crazy Rich Asians, here's how much these iconic weddings would cost in 2025

Sadly, fairytales weddings aren’t free!

Weddings are never cheap—but movie weddings? They take expensive to a whole new level, where budgets don’t exist, and everything looks straight out of a Karan Johar set. Think grand destination venues, couture outfits, non-stop parties, and tables overflowing with decadent feasts. On-screen weddings make it all seem like a magical blur where no one’s worried about the bill. But have you ever paused mid-movie to wonder what these picture-perfect celebrations would actually cost IRL? From Aditi’s over-the-top Udaipur wedding in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to Kalindi’s ultra-chic Thailand nuptials in Veere Di Wedding, and even the outrageously opulent aisle walk in Crazy Rich Asians—cinematic weddings are grand, extravagant, and designed to leave your jaw on the floor (and your wallet in tears).

So, we crunched the numbers to find out exactly how much these iconic movie weddings would set you back in 2025. Spoiler: they cost a lot more than just a few Instagram-worthy moments. Take a look.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)

It’s only fitting to kick off with the grandest of them all—especially for Bollywood buffs. Aditi’s (Kalki Koechlin) wedding in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is the stuff of millennial dreams, the kind that made everyone want their own palace wedding. Enter The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur—a venue so magical, but with a price tag to match. A full buyout today would set you back a cool ₹4 crore. Factor in the Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra trousseau, and you’re already looking at ₹50-70 lakh in outfits alone. Between the poolside sangeet, that wholesome mehendi, and a cocktail party that could pass for a music festival, décor and entertainment would easily hit ₹2 crore. And the food? We’re talking at least ₹1.5 crore for all those gourmet bites and cocktails. All in all, this royal celebration would cost somewhere around ₹8-10 crore in 2025. But hey, you only get married once...hopefully.

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

The title had to be your first clue! This movie was all about expensive parties, but the grandest of them all had to be Araminta's (Sonoya Mizuno) wedding at the end of the film. I mean did you even see the part where walked down a water-flooded aisle? Singapore’s CHIJMES Hall was transformed into a floral wonderland, a feat that would cost about ₹5 crore today (yes, for the aisle alone). And if that wasn't enough, throw in the couture wedding gown, which is worth at least ₹80 lakhs today. Add a Michelin-starred feast and extravagant décor, and this fairytale spectacle would easily come down to ₹12-15 crores. Basically, if you don’t have billionaire besties, you might want to sit this one out.

Bride Wars (2009)

Remember the epic battle of the brides at New York’s grand Plaza Hotel? In Bride Wars, Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) go head-to-head in planning the ultimate “June wedding, at The Plaza”. Sounds dreamy right? But don’t start sending out your save-the-dates just yet. Renting out The Plaza in 2025 will set you back at least ₹2.5 crore—that is if you’re lucky enough to snag a booking. And who could forget Liv’s dreamy Vera Wang gown?  Lace bodice, basque waist, and ten layers of tulle—it's the dress that every bride wanted in 2010. But cut to 2025, that beauty would easily cost ₹30-40 lakhs. Add white-glove service, a greenhouse worth of florals, and Champagne fountains, and you’re looking at a ₹7-8 crore Upper East Side extravaganza—cue the Gossip Girl soundtrack.

Veere Di Wedding (2018)

Forget a palace or tropical island—Veere Di Wedding gave us the ultimate big-city bash set in the heart of Delhi’s high society. Kalindi’s (Kareena Kapoor Khan) almost-wedding played out across some of the capital’s swankiest venues, including a heritage bungalow owned by a Delhi industrialist and luxe hotels like The Imperial. The vibe? Less marigold mandap, more contemporary chic. Designer names like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Anamika Khanna were basically part of the bridal party, with Kalindi’s lehenga alone estimated at ₹15-20 lakh in today’s market. Add the over-the-top engagement party, intimate-yet-grand mehendi, and the actual wedding setup that oozed quiet luxury, and you’re easily looking at ₹4-5 crore. And let’s not forget the Thailand detour—a bonus luxe trip to amp up the bride squad bonding (and drama).

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

Karan Johar did what he does best in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil—serve heartbreak with a large serving of
glamour. Anushka Sharma’s regal wedding looked straight out of a Mughal-European crossover Pinterest board. Filmed in European palaces that would cost ₹3-4 crore to rent today, the wedding was dripping in chandeliers and velvet. Her Manish Malhotra lehenga? ₹50 lakh, no less. Add luxe floral setups and a moody reception dinner for another ₹3.5 crore, and you’ve got yourself a ₹7-9 crore bittersweet wedding—perfect for crying in couture.

Bridesmaids (2011)

Bridesmaids is hands down one of the funniest Hollywood comedies out there. It’s chaotic, it’s heartfelt, and it had a dreamy garden wedding that feels like Pinterest exploded—in a good way, of course. Picture mismatched bridesmaid dresses racking up ₹20 lakh collectively, a helicopter entrance (because why not?) at a casual ₹80 lakh, and a whimsical outdoor venue priced at ₹1 crore. Oh and remember Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) Parisian wedding gown? A classic Amsale creation, this simple yet timeless gown would cost around ₹8-10 lakhs in 2025. And the open bar? Easily the priciest guest at ₹1.5 crore—someone had to fund all those bottomless cocktails and inevitable dancefloor disasters. So you’re looking at ₹3-4 crore for this pastel-hued bash where no cake (or chocolate fountain) is safe.

Sex and the City (2008)

Carrie Bradshaw’s almost-wedding (RIP Big’s cold feet) at the New York Public Library was the epitome of Manhattan glamour. Renting out this iconic landmark today would set you back around ₹2 crore, but that’s just the starting point. The real star—apart from Carrie herself—was her show-stopping Vivienne Westwood couture gown, complete with that oversized corsage and billowing silk faille skirt. In 2025? That beauty would easily cost ₹30 lakh. Add to that towering white florals climbing the marble columns, gold-accented décor fit for Upper East Side royalty, and a multi-course sit-down dinner at ₹2-3 crore, and you’re already tipping ₹6-7 crore without breaking a Manolo heel. Big may not have made it to the altar, but the budget sure did.

Shaandaar (2015)

Shaandaar served us a wedding that felt like Alice in Wonderland had gatecrashed a big, fat Punjabi baraat—and we loved every chaotic second of it. Set in a grand Yorkshire castle, which today would cost around ₹3 crore to rent for the festivities, the setting alone screamed OTT fairytale. The bride, Isha (played by Sanah Kapur), sported a fresh take on bridalwear—ditching heavy reds for a pastel pink embellished lehenga, reflective of the film's playful and modern aesthetic. A custom couture piece like that in 2025 would easily cost ₹10-15 lakh. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt, as the bride’s sister, served boho-chic bridesmaid goals with a trousseau that would total around ₹30 lakh in designer looks. The décor? Whimsical carnival rides, vintage caravans, fireworks, and fairy lights galore—₹2 crore right there. Add a fusion feast of English classics and Punjabi favourites for ₹1.5 crore, and you’re staring at a ₹6-8 crore bill for this glitter-soaked, chaotic wedding, complete with sangeet drama and flying kisses.
