From Emily Ratajkowski and Ariana Grande, to Sofia Vergara these divas are rocking the divorce ring trend

You know how diamonds are said to 'be forever' and continue to be a girl’s best friend, and the size and allure of engagement and wedding rings are a testimony this? Well, it's no longer case. at least, it's no longer restricted to rings that signify a new bond or new stage in a couple's life. With divorce rings marking their presence in popular culture, things are shaking up a little. Ever since American model and actor Emily Ratajkowski put up pictures of her repurposed wedding ring (it was made into two separate pieces signifying her separation) on Instagram, the divorce ring trend has caught on. 

Here is list of celebrities and their divorce rings that became the talk of the town. 

Emily Ratajkowski

Back in 2018, movie producer Sebastian Bear-McClard went down on one knee and asked Ratajkowski to be his wife. Five years later, the actor got to keep the ring, which cost an estimated $100,000, and featured two large stones—called a ‘Toi et Moi’ ring that translates to ‘you and me’ in English. She teamed up with Alison Chemla Chetrit, owner of fine jewellery brand Alison Lou, to transform her original engagement ring into two divorce rings.

She took to Instagram to show the two rings—one of them a three-carat pear-shaped solitaire stone on a gold band, while the other was a two-carat princess-cut diamond with two trapezoid-shaped gems, set in gold, on its side. 

Ariana Grande

Another celebrity with a ‘Toi et Moi’ divorce ring is singing sensation Ariana Grande who was gifted one in 2020 by her ex-husband Dalton Gomez. The piece, rumoured to have cost above $300,000, was an asymmetrical solitaire two-stone ring that held a five to seven carat oval diamond and a pearl that was passed down to Grande from her late grandfather. 

Sophie Turner

The Games of Thrones actor was wed to Joe Jonas for four years before the pair filed for divorce in 2023. Her engagement ring was one that you simply couldn’t take your eyes off.

It was a three-carat pear-cut diamond ring, set on a double pavé band—a design that signifies the merging of two lives and the journey that they embark on together, and was estimated to cost around $150,000. 

Sofia Vergara

All good things come to an end. So did the fairytale wedding Vergara and her second husband Joe Manganiello (because the latter wanted children while she didn’t). One of their shared interests, however, was jewellery with the actor’s engagement ring being the pinnacle of all things glam and sparkle.

Costing an estimated half a million dollars and being around 5-7 carats, the large cushion-cut diamond of the ring is surrounded by a sparkling halo and pavé diamonds encrusting the platinum band.
