Shaloo Savla and Timothy Dennis Reidy’s wedding was more than a union—it was a love letter to two cultures, two families, and the power of intention. Held across some of Boston’s most iconic venues in July 2024, the couple curated a multi-day affair that honoured Shaloo’s Indian roots and Tim’s Western upbringing, creating a deeply personal, joy-filled experience. Each function was thoughtfully designed to reflect not just tradition, but also identity, mutual respect, and connection. The moments were captured with care and artistry by P. Taufiq Photography, who had the honour of documenting the weekend.
Savla, a first-generation Indian-Canadian raised in Toronto, comes from a Jain and Gujarati background. As a dual MBA/MPP graduate, he works in analytics and strategy consulting, moving between cultures with ease and pride. Reidy, born and raised in Western Massachusetts, grew up in a Catholic household and spent his early career in fashion as a stylist before transitioning into real estate. Though they came from different worlds—one steeped in heritage, the other shaped by exploration—their connection was immediate. From the beginning, their bond was rooted in curiosity, cultural respect, and emotional openness. Over time, they built a partnership grounded in shared values, celebration, and a deep pride in each other’s stories.
The haldi ceremony
The wedding festivities began with an intimate haldi ceremony at the InterContinental Boston. The space was transformed with vibrant yellow florals and warm lighting, a nod to Savla's Jain heritage. Turmeric rituals unfolded in the presence of close friends and family, setting the tone for a weekend of unity and joy. Reidy participated wholeheartedly, surrounded by both families in a scene that blended tradition with tender, modern connection.
The baraat and the Hindu ceremony
Among the weekend’s most memorable moments was Reidy's exuberant baraat—a joyful, music-filled procession that wove through the historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace. As onlookers cheered, the couple’s communities danced together in a moment of pure celebration. The Hindu ceremony that followed took place at the State Room, beneath a mandap draped in florals with Boston’s skyline stretching behind them. Savla and Reidy exchanged garlands, performed the sacred pheras, and participated in traditional pujas—each gesture symbolic of their deep commitment to honouring both culture and love.
The reception
The celebrations culminated in a stunning reception at the State Room, where Western minimalism met Indian vibrance. The decor was elevated but personal—black-and-gold tablescapes, mood lighting, and design touches that reflected the couple’s shared aesthetic. Emotional speeches from loved ones added depth and warmth, while the couple’s entrance—set to a curated playlist blending Bollywood and Western hits—captured the fusion that defines their relationship. Their wedding looks were also in theme, mixing Indian craftsmanship with Western tailoring to create a style that felt both contemporary and rooted.
What made this wedding especially meaningful were the details that reflected who Savla and Reidy really are, both individually and as a couple. Reidy's wholehearted participation in Hindu rituals, from the pheras to the puja, symbolised more than just acceptance—it reflected true cultural integration. Their fashion choices were equally intentional: a beautiful intersection of tradition and individuality that embraced gender fluidity, heritage, and modern design.
Boston itself became a powerful backdrop—from the historic buzz of Faneuil Hall to the sweeping city views from the State Room—offering both grandeur and intimacy. And behind the scenes, a dream team of planners, stylists, and creative collaborators helped bring their vision of an inclusive, joyful, and beautifully personal wedding to life.
