When two people who share a love for cinema and storytelling decide to spend their lives together, it makes for a celebration worth talking about. Actress, producer, and entrepreneur Sharmiela Mandre and Tamil film producer Sudhan Sundaram recently marked a major milestone in their relationship with an intimate engagement ceremony in Bengaluru. Held on June 25 in the presence of their families, the private celebration officially marked the beginning of a new chapter for the couple, who are set to marry later this year.
The engagement was a close-knit affair, centred around the blessings of both families and the joy of bringing loved ones together. While the ceremony was intimate, the news has already received warm wishes from friends, colleagues, and members of the South Indian film industry, where both Mandre and Sundaram have built their careers.

Mandre has been a familiar face across Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu cinema since making her debut with Sajni in 2007. Over the years, she has appeared in nearly 35 films, including Krishna, Navagraha, Aake, Devil, Gaalipata 2, and Powder. Alongside acting, she has also established herself as a producer through Sharmiela Mandre Productions, where she has backed projects that focus on strong, content-led storytelling. Her work both in front of and behind the camera has made her one of the industry's most respected creative voices.
Sundaram has made an equally significant mark as the founder of Passion Studios, a production house known for supporting fresh and meaningful stories. As a producer and screenwriter, he has been associated with acclaimed films such as Seethakaathi, Andhaghaaram, Parking, and the blockbuster Maharaja. His production Parking was recognised with the National Award for Best Tamil Feature Film at the 71st National Film Awards.

Their engagement brings together two creative professionals whose careers have been shaped by a shared commitment to meaningful cinema. While they have each carved out successful paths in the industry, this new chapter reflects a partnership built on common values, mutual respect, and a passion for storytelling.
As Mandre and Sundaram look ahead to their wedding later this year, their engagement stands as a celebration of family, love, and the exciting journey that lies ahead. Surrounded by their closest loved ones on one of the most important days of their lives, the couple has begun this new phase with warmth, happiness, and the support of the South Indian film fraternity cheering them on.
