Inside Garima Garg and Devaj Jhunjhunwala’s couture-led Jaisalmer wedding

A celebration that fused self-expression with tradition, redefining how love can be seen and shared.

When a fashion stylist gets married, you expect unforgettable looks—but Garima Garg’s wedding to Devaj Jhunjhunwala went far beyond just sartorial impact. Conceptualised and designed by Mirage Weddings and Events, the multi-day affair in Suryagarh, Jaisalmer, became an immersive mood board—where each outfit Garg wore inspired the entire design language of the event it was set in. This was not a case of décor setting the tone; instead, Garg’s couture vision shaped the storytelling, with Mirage translating her style into spaces that were both visually spectacular and emotionally resonant.

From a mystical rave in the dunes to a palace pheras ceremony that pulsed with sacred simplicity, every detail began with what she wore.

The desert rave: Sculptural, surreal, and off-the-grid

Garg’s first look set the tone for the weekend—fierce, free-spirited, and utterly unconventional. She chose a Rahul Mishra dragonfly-wing top, sculpted in sheer organza and grounded with plush black velvet, paired with separates from Antar Agni. Ethereal and futuristic, the ensemble shimmered under desert moonlight, catching the light like a living creature.

To match the moodboard born from her outfit, the dunes were transformed into a rave wonderland—complete with LED tunnels, fire installations, strobe-lit skies, and a bass-thumping soundtrack. This wasn’t just a party, it was a portal into another world—dreamlike, electric, and unapologetically bold.

A haveli-style welcome: Earthy romance meets Rajasthani nostalgia

For the sun-drenched Welcome Lunch, Garima wore a custom look by Delhi Vintage Co. in warm, earthy tones with fine embroidery and structured sleeves. The silhouette channelled Mastani-inspired regality with a nostalgic nod to local crafts. Her earthy palette was mirrored in the décor: Suryagarh’s courtyard reimagined as an open-air haveli, filled with block-printed fabrics, charpais, sarangi melodies, and rosewater fountains. Food was served on banana leaves, reinforcing the focus on grounding, hospitality, and tradition—again, the bride’s aesthetic guiding every design choice.

Sangeet in full bloom: Joy, craft, and a hint of vintage glam

For the evening Sangeet, texture and colour took centre stage. The courtyard bloomed with turmeric yellow, bougainvillaea pink, and coral hues, draped in bandhani-printed canopies and accented with macramé hangings, jute tassels, wooden jharokhas, and mirrorwork fabrics. Garg’s Rahul Mishra outfit, featuring a soft blazer and breezy lehenga, blended effortlessly into this vibrant craftscape. Her vintage pearl headpiece by Hair Drama Co. echoed the timeless elegance woven through the space. Every element—from her styling to the setting—was layered with personal storytelling, blurring the line between fashion and environment.

A palace wedding: Temple energy meets couture grandeur

The main ceremony took place within Suryagarh’s majestic palace courtyard, and called for a look that spoke of classic bridal elegance. Garg turned to Tarun Tahiliani, whose creation embodied modern opulence with soft grandeur. The mandap, built in concentric floral rings with sandstone lamps and brass elements, felt like a sacred shrine within a royal setting. The visual language here—spiritual, stately, and steeped in grace—was again drawn directly from the bride’s couture moodboard, ensuring every detail felt intentional and personal.

The pheras: Sacred gold and a personal statement

For the final pheras, Garg chose her most personal outfit—a radiant golden saree by Vaishali S., sculptural in drape and layered with handpicked gold jewellery. It was a departure from the expected, yet deeply rooted in symbolism.

The setting was soft and emotional—cascading blooms, golden ambient lighting, and a mandap that radiated serenity. Just like the rest of the wedding, this moment was guided by Garg’s vision, marking the transition not just into marriage, but into a shared new identity.

From fire-lit dunes to sacred palaces, this was a wedding that celebrated individuality, honoured heritage, and gave the world a new visual language of love—built entirely around the bride.
