From Alaska to Agra, this North-South Indian wedding took love across latitudes

Aman Jain and Harshitha Suresh’s Agra wedding beautifully blended Tamil and Marwari traditions, proving that love knows no borders; only shared laughter, colour, and joy.

Some love stories feel like they were meant to be told in two parts—one written in snow, the other in sunshine. For Aman Jain and Harshitha Suresh, their journey began amidst the dazzling lights of Las Vegas and culminated in the royal warmth of Agra. What started as casual conversations and shared drives turned into a bond that crossed cities, cultures, and even climates.

Jain, who grew up in Agra, and Suresh, who hails from Bengaluru, met in Las Vegas while pursuing their careers. The connection was instant and easy—two people from opposite ends of India finding home in each other halfway across the world. After three years of love, long-distance, and countless shared memories, Jain decided to make it official with a proposal that was straight out of a snow-globe fairytale.

A proposal among the clouds

During a helicopter ride over Alaska’s breathtaking landscapes, Jain landed on the pristine Knik Glacier, surrounded by snow and endless sky. It was there, in that surreal white stillness, that he got down on one knee, and it was an instant yes by Suresh.

From that moment on, every step of their wedding journey reflected who they were: two individuals with roots in different traditions but hearts beating in sync.

A two-day celebration in Agra

The couple chose to tie the knot in Agra, Jain's hometown, a city known for the world’s greatest monument of love. Their festivities spanned over two days—November 16 and 17, 2024—and took place across two stunning venues: Taj Khema and DoubleTree by Hilton.

Day 1 began with a Lagan Puja, a morning ritual that marked the auspicious start of the celebrations. Soon after came the haldi, where laughter echoed and marigold petals filled the air. Friends and family danced barefoot, smeared turmeric on each other, and painted the courtyard in yellow and joy.

The evening transitioned into a lively sangeet—a high-energy night filled with dance performances, emotional speeches, and a few spontaneous moves from the bride and groom themselves.

The second day began with the baraat, a colourful procession filled with dhol beats and joyous energy, leading up to the main wedding ceremony at Taj Khema.

A fusion of traditions

The wedding ceremony was where North met South in the most harmonious way. With the Taj Mahal in the background and the soft rustle of silk sarees mingling with the sound of shehnais, the couple’s union symbolised more than love—it represented understanding and respect between two rich and vastly different cultures.

Jain's Marwari roots and Suresh's Tamil heritage came together through rituals, attire, and decor. The ceremony included both kanyadaan and mangalya dharanam, blending customs while honouring each family’s traditions.

For the reception that night, the newlyweds switched to contemporary elegance. Suresh dazzled in a sleek, embellished saree inspired by modern South Indian draping styles, while Jain opted for a tailored tuxedo. The decor was kept classic—ivory florals, soft lighting, and a live band that kept everyone on their feet till midnight.

Rooted yet modern

From Kanchipuram weaves to Delhi atelier lehengas, every outfit was chosen to tell a story. Suresh's wedding trousseau celebrated craftsmanship from both ends of the country—traditional silks paired with contemporary jewellery and styling.

The decor followed the same philosophy—earthy tones and traditional marigolds blended with chic table settings and modern floral installations.

More than anything, what stood out about Jain and Suresh's wedding was the effortless way their families came together. There were no ‘his side’ or ‘her side’—just one big celebration of love.

From a glacier in Alaska to the grandeur of Agra, their story is a testament to the fact that when love is real, it transcends geography, language, and traditions to culminate in one of the most beautiful stories.
