A Celebrity Hair Stylist Shares Beauty Tips You Should Swear By For Your Big Day

Klaus Peter Ochs, celebrity hair stylist and president, Intercoiffure Mondial, shares secrets and tips for the celebrations ahead.

Brides Today:  What was your inspiration to get involved in the beauty business?

Klaus Peter Ochs:My family has been my inspiration, which also makes me the third generation hairdresser after my grandfather and father. My family was always keen that I take up hairdressing as my profession, and continue the legacy. By far, their advice has been the most valuable and also the reason behind my success.

BT: Are there any hair treatments you would suggest the bride to opt for before the D-day?

KPO: The bride-to-be should follow a 30-day hair care regime. A good idea for the bride is to get customised conditioning hair treatment done from her personal stylist, suitable for her hair type. For example, curly hair requires more moisture than straight hair. A personal stylist knows best about their clients’ hair texture and is most competent in meeting their requirements.

BT: The best part about being a hair stylist? How do you stay up-to-date with trends and the one that you are in love with right now?

KPO:My job is to enhance the beauty of my clients, which is the highlight of my profession. Sitting in Germany, I have access to all the upcoming trends via social media. This keeps me up-to-date with new styles in the fashion industry and directs me to experiment accordingly. In my opinion, the latest trend is coloured hair and bangs on the front.

BT:Colours that work for Indian skin-tones?

KPO: Brown augments Indian skin-tone, provided the skin colour is one tone lighter than rest of the hair. Charcoal black complements dusky complexion and enhances it as well. Last but not the least, burgundy makes one stand out and works well with all skin types, be it yellow or dusky.

BT:Five must-have products for a bride?

KPO: A shine spray, a blow-dryer, a deep conditoner, a set of hair rollers, and a voluminiser is a must for all women, and especially for brides-to-be.
