Anyone who is working from home or has faced the ‘no sleep’ situation must have checked a zillion times on remedies or treatments to get rid of dark circles permanently. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to budge. You have tried every tip and trick in the book but still can’t figure out ways to get rid of the dark circles. However, expert intervention can help you remove dark circles for good. Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta, cosmetic dermatologist and founder of ISAAC Wellness Centre says, it’s important to find out dark circle causes or the reasons behind it. “For long term results, it’s crucial to do a blood investigation, check for vitamin deficiencies and serum ferritin levels. Supplements and treatments are important,” she adds. However, you can start off with some effective remedies and tips shared by Dr Geetika, if there’s no underlying reasons, these will help you get rid of dark circles instantly.
1. Apply a cold compress
In the morning and evening: Wrap a few ice cubes in a clean washcloth and apply to your eyes.
2. Get adequate sleep
Catching up on enough shut eye can also help reduce the appearance of dark circles.
3. Use tea bags
You can actually use caffeinated tea bags under your eyes to help with dark circles and under-eye bags.
4. Up your water intake
Staying hydrated can help you fix those dark circles. Dehydration leads to a number of skin issues and tired, under-eye bags are a few among them.
5. Try facial massage
Use gentle strokes with your fingertips or use a roller to massage your under-eye area after applying eye cream.
6. Add aloe vera to your beauty routine
Aloe vera is an effective moisturiser and has anti-inflammatory properties. Clean the under eye area with moist cotton and massage aloe vera pulp under the eyes for 10 minutes.
7. Get those potatoes
Potato contains natural bleaching property that can help to lighten the skin under your eyes as well as prevent puffiness around your eyes.
8. Minimise digital exposure
The blue light emitted from electronic devices like phones and laptops can damage the sensitive skin round your eyes. Limit digital exposure or wear anti-glare glasses to protect your eyes while working.
9. Wear sun glasses
When out in the sun, don’t forget your sunnies, they will protect you from the damage caused by harsh rays.
