A breezy beach wedding with a jaw-dropping backdrop of the ocean is something we’ve all dreamt about! It’s fun, laid-back, and awfully refreshing; both for the couple tying the knot and the guests. However, pulling off a flawless ceremony by the shore can be tricky. Here are a few tips to tackle the unique challenges when you’re planning your nautical nuptials.
1. The Right Location

Before finalising a spot along the shores, do a thorough research of all the options available to you. Depending entirely on how big you want your ceremony to be, opt for an appropriate location that can provide ample space for sitting arrangements, parkings, restrooms, and refreshments.
2. Ensure Legalities

Public beaches have restrictions on noise, alcohol, temporary infrastructures, flowers, kites, balloon releases etc. So, be prepared to do advance legal work for permits by checking with the local chamber of commerce, or hire a wedding planner who’s familiar with these policies.
3. Privacy

Setting up a private ceremony in a public location means you will have to compromise on privacy because public beach spots will be accessed by people, unless you book a resort, an oceanfront estate with a private beach, or a secluded spot away from the crowds.
4. Time it Right

Study the wind and weather patterns and choose a date that’s not too windy, sunny, and bright. A daytime ceremony two hours before sunset will not only add a romantic backdrop, the natural lighting will enhance your wedding photos too!
5. Comfort of the Attendees

Prepare your guests for your big day by informing them well in advance about your chosen location. Create welcome kits with travel-sized bottles of sunscreen, bottled water, towels, and hand fans to beat the heat. Arrange for powder rooms, restrooms, and refreshment sections, offer shade and shoe stations to hoard footwear of guests who want to enjoy your nuptials barefoot.
6. Dress Light

Ditch the extravagant wedding gowns, lace, pearls, veil, and high heels. Opt for something minimal and breezy and always go for lighter fabrics that allow proper air flow. Add a pop of hue with a coloured dress (try shades of pastels) and opt for a smart updo for your hair.
