10 songs for a dream-like bridal entry

We’re not crying, you are.

It’s safe to say that most of us can recall Anushka Sharma in her stunning floral lehenga walking towards Virat Kohli, who is standing near the mandap (canopy), awe-struck as the song Din Shagna Da plays in the background. Over the last few years, the big fat Indian wedding has taken on a different form. Today, families, along with the bride and groom-to be, are choosing intimate weddings in the presence of their nearest and dearest ones while still celebrating in the grandest manner possible—wedding dances, first reactions, the varmala ceremony and the bridal entrance. That moment when everyone turns to see the bride for the first time, with the perfect song playing in the background, is all things magical and emotional. An ‘awwdorable’ moment, we would say. So, we curated a list of all the songs you can play to have the fairy-tale-like bridal entrance.

A Thousand Years

With words like, ’The day we met, frozen I held my breath, right from the start, I knew that I'd found a home, for my heart beats fast’— this classic by Christina Perri hits home as you walk down the aisle to be married to the love of your life.

Din Shagna Da

If this song doesn’t make you cry, we don’t know what will. Watch the magic of love unravel as you see the bride enter and make her way towards the mandap. The lyrics of the song beautifully translate to: “The auspicious day has come, come my friends, the house has been decorated,” evoking nothing but warmth and an intimate connection with everyone involved.

London Thumakda

Here’s one for the Bollywood-lover bride, who wants to dance her way into her marriage bringing with her an abundance of energy, warmth and affection. We’d love to be there for this one!

Sairat Zaala Ji

Written by Chinmayi Sripada, the Sairat title track is about whole-hearted, unconditional love. Literally translating to, ’The heart has gone into a wild frenzy,’ there’s only little more we could hope for on the wedding day.

Sooraj ki Baahon Mein

Slide and glide your way into your marriage like Katrina Kaif does in the film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. If you’re in the mood for something light, warm, and full of love and good energy, choose this song. We promise it’ll make you dance, smile, and have a good time.

Wedding Dress

This song, by Matt Nathanson gives us all the feels. Imagine walking slowly down the aisle, listening to the words of the song backed by an acoustic guitar. Your family and friends watch as you smile gently, and walk towards what is going to be the most memorable and magical moments of your life. We’re getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Kabira

If you’re, like me, a (HUGE) fan of the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, then playing Kabira as you enter the wedding ceremony is an absolute must. The song is as emotional as it is warm and full of light and love.

Sky Full of Stars

“'Cause in a sky, 'cause in a sky full of stars, I think I see you”—and honestly, is there anything else you need on your wedding day?

I’m Yours

Exuding warmth in every word, this song by Jason Mraz is everything adorable, cute and intimate, and makes us go all awww.

Mast Magan

This is the perfect song for the royal, elegant and classic Indian wedding as the bride walks down the aisle towards the mandap and the groom gazes at her in the most heart-warming and true-love kind of way.
