THE UNUSUAL SPOT
Think beyond hands and feet and move to the neck, chest and even the décolletage. “The patterns can be experimental while the motifs can be few but loud. You can get similar motifs on your hands as other parts of your body. One could also explore a series through different body parts,” says Ekaterina Maltseva of Neo_Mehendi from Russia, who travels across the world to popularise this idea.
BELOVED FURRY FRIEND
Include your pet by incorporating their sketch or getting their name etched. “You will need an artist who specialises in portraiture mehendi as the style requires a special skill. The cost could be higher but if yours is an off-season wedding, you could strike a great deal,” says Tasneem Ahsan, an artist from Indore.
FOR THE GOURMAND
Food brings in an element of fun. We spotted a bride displaying her love for French fries and burger in her mehendi. Another chose a Starbucks coffee and a blueberry muffin. Always ask your artist to first recreate the specific element on paper to check if the design is what you had in mind.
FLASH BACK
Special memories from your childhood, moments like the time and place you met your partner, the big proposal—all of these can be a part of your design. Identify the story you want to tell and zero in on two or three key elements you want to highlight.
THE CHOSEN ONE
Have a favorite poem or a quote? An animal motif or a much-loved cartoon character? Individual elements such as these will add a unique touch.
