Your wedding day is one of the most special occasions of your life, so naturally, you want to hold on to every little bit of it. There are the photographs, the outfit you spent months finding, and maybe even the wedding invitation you’ve tucked away for safekeeping.
But these days, couples are finding more personal ways to remember their big day, beyond what makes it into the wedding album. Think handwritten notes from your favourite people, jewellery made from your wedding flowers, or audio recordings you can listen to years from now.
Some keepsakes are just for the two of you, while others bring your favourite people into the process, letting them leave behind a little piece of the celebration, too. They’re the kind of mementoes you can pull out on your anniversary, revisit a decade later, or stumble upon years down the line and be transported right back to the day you said, “I do”.
Because long after the flowers have wilted and the cake has been eaten, it’s these little things that help you relive the moments that made the day yours.
A wedding wish book
A wedding wish book is a nice way to collect all the things people want to tell you on your wedding day, especially when you barely get a minute to sit down and take it all in. Guests can leave marriage advice, share a favourite memory of the couple or make predictions about their life together.
The fun part is going back and reading everything on your first anniversary, or a random weekday when you need a laugh. You could even set aside a few notes to open on different anniversaries.
Sound-wave art prints

If there's a particular song, a line from your vows or even a voice note that means a lot to you both, why not turn it into art? Sound-wave prints translate audio into a visual design, which you can personalise with your names and wedding date.
Add a QR code that plays the original recording, and you have something that looks good on your wall but has a little secret behind it, too. It's a lovely way to keep a moment you can hear, rather than just look at.
A wedding memory chest
Between the invitations, vows, wedding-day jewellery, handwritten notes and all those little bits you've held on to, it's easy for wedding keepsakes to end up scattered across drawers. A memory chest gives everything a home, and you can personalise the box with your initials or wedding date.
Add things as you come across them, including the menu from your reception or a note you forgot you'd saved. Years later, opening it together could feel like stepping back into the weeks leading up to your wedding.
Bouquet or garland petal jewellery
Wedding flowers are beautiful, but they don't last forever, which makes preserving a few petals such a sweet idea. Petals from the bridal bouquet or varmala can be turned into pendants, rings or earrings, often encased in resin to keep their colour and shape.
You could wear the jewellery on anniversaries or simply keep it for days when you feel like revisiting the wedding. It's especially lovely for Indian couples who want to preserve their varmala, one of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony.
A fingerprint family tree
Start with a canvas featuring a bare tree and let everyone at the wedding add a fingerprint as a leaf, signing their name beside it. By the end of the celebrations, you'll have a piece of art made up of the people who were there for one of the biggest days of your life.
You could stick to one colour for a more minimal look or let guests use different shades to fill the branches. Hang it at home and you'll always have a little reminder of the people who celebrated with you.
A Polaroid scrapbook
Give guests a Polaroid camera, a scrapbook and a few pens, and let them document the wedding as they see it. They can stick in pictures of themselves, snap the couple when they're not posing for the photographer, or leave a note next to a particularly chaotic dance-floor moment.
Unlike the official wedding album, this one captures the little things happening around the edges of the celebrations. The best part is looking through it afterwards and finding moments you didn't even know had happened.
Custom wedding newspapers
Imagine having a newspaper dedicated entirely to your relationship, complete with a headline announcing your wedding. You can include how you met, the proposal story, favourite photographs, little facts about each other and even mock interviews with the couple.
It's a fun way to document your story without making another photo album, and you can have copies printed for yourselves to keep. Years later, it'll be interesting to see how you described your relationship at the very beginning of married life.
A wedding-day perfume
You probably spend weeks deciding what to wear, but have you thought about what you want your wedding day to smell like? Choose a perfume for the ceremony and reception, then keep a bottle aside to wear on anniversaries or special occasions.
You could even create a bespoke fragrance inspired by your wedding flowers, destination or the scent you both associate with a favourite memory. Since smell can bring back vivid memories, a single spritz years later might take you straight back to the day.
An audio guestbook
Instead of asking guests to write in a book, set up a vintage telephone where they can pick up the receiver and record a message for the couple. Some might leave heartfelt wishes, while others may share embarrassing stories, terrible marriage advice or a message that gets progressively louder as the evening goes on.
Once the wedding is over, you can listen to the recordings together and hear everyone's voices, including those of loved ones who might not be around forever. It's the kind of keepsake that becomes more precious with time.
