They introduced the concept of couture invitations to India’s gargantuan wedding industry. In a landscape where e-invites are making rapid inroads, they continue to hold their own, further venturing into gifting, wedding décor and interiors. The Entertainment Design Company (EDC), founded by Kapil and Sandy Khurana, is a one-of-a-kind luxury invitation house that’s known for their bespoke and creative designs, and the most personalised work you can find in the field, making them the go-to choice for the country’s most high-profile celebrities, businesspersons, dignitaries and the like. They share with Brides Today what makes their discerning clients lay their trust in them and why they continue to shine with their “personalised art” in the digital world.
Brides Today: How did the concept of couture invitations come about?
EDC: Over 25 years ago, observing an unmet need in the wedding industry for luxury bespoke invites, we introduced the concept of couture invitations. Our innovative approach was well-received by discerning customers, propelling us to become leaders in the field.
BT: Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan, Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi, Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech, Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh… You’ve worked with scores of high-profile clients. How do you bring their vision to life?
EDC: We immerse ourselves in their story, understand their dreams and infuse them with our creativity and craftsmanship, ensuring every detail reflects their unique essence.
BT: Any memorable stories you’d like to share?
EDC: One cherished memory is difficult to state. However, what truly stands out is the silent bond we share with key individuals across Bollywood, prominent business houses, industrialists, and the sports fraternity, to name a few. Although their invitations remain private, the trust they place in our craft resonates deeply. It’s a testament to our commitment to personalised service and building enduring relationships.
BT: Since EDC has been at the helm of designer wedding cards and gifting for nearly two decades, what’s one trend you’ve seen evolve , and what do you think will be big in future? Does AI come into play?
EDC: Over the years, we’ve witnessed a shift towards minimalist elegance and digital integration. While AI assists in streamlining processes, at EDC, we prioritise the human touch and ensure that each creation remains a timeless masterpiece.
BT: How has the growing preference for e-invites affected the business of physical invitations? Plus, you’ve also ventured into wedding décor. How do you go about this part of your work for a wedding?
EDC: While e-invites have their space, our clients value the tangible luxury of our bespoke creations. As for wedding décor, we meticulously blend the couple’s vision with our expertise and make sure that every detail reflects their unique style and story. In this space, we see a surge in demand for experiential elements like immersive lighting, floral installations and personalised touches. Our team plans everything in detail, both incorporating industry trends and maintaining our signature elegance. With a year-on-year growth, we’re excited to redefine luxury wedding experiences.
BT: How would you describe EDC’s journey?
EDC: Our journey has been a testament to passion, innovation and craftsmanship. From pioneering couture invitations in India to setting global standards in luxury stationery, each milestone reinforces our commitment to creating personalised art that transcends time and trends.
BT: What’s next on the cards (pun intended) for EDC?
EDC: Besides EDC Décor, we’ve diversified into new verticals like Fleur De Lis gifting and bespoke home designing under EDC Homes. Our focus remains on innovation with new materials, techniques and stateof-the-art machinery, crafting each unique creation to perfection.
