When rain took over Diva and Vishesh's Thailand beach wedding and made it unforgettable

This celebration proved that the best moments are sometimes unplanned.

A destination wedding is often imagined as picture perfect, sunlit, and seamless. But for Diva Chokshi and Vishesh Parekh, their celebration at Marriott Khao Lak in Thailand from November 23 to 25, 2025, became memorable for a completely unexpected reason. What began as a classic beach wedding soon turned into something far more emotional and intimate when rain arrived just minutes before the ceremony. However, instead of disrupting the moment, it brought with it a sense of magic that no amount of planning could have created.

With nearly 250 guests flying in from around the world, the wedding unfolded over three days filled with thoughtful details and experiences. No one left when it started raining. Guests stayed back holding umbrellas, while the couple chose to continue the ceremony as planned, standing together as it rained around them.

A love story built over time

Chokshi and Parekh first met at a house party she hosted for a friend. She initially felt that he came across as a bit of a playboy, while he found her fun and easy to be around. What followed was not an instant romance, but a relationship that grew steadily over time.

Over eight years, they travelled the world together, building memories that shaped their bond. The proposal came in a quiet vineyard in Tuscany, a setting that reflected the simplicity of their relationship.

A beachside welcome inspired by Thailand

The wedding celebrations began with a welcome dinner on the beach, inspired by the Thai Loy Krathong festival. Guests were invited to float lanterns into the water, creating a serene experience. Each lantern was thoughtfully tied with a string so it could be pulled back, ensuring the activity remained mindful of the ocean.
A day of experiences and connection

The next day brought a more relaxed energy with a pool party and mehendi. Instead of a single event, Chokshi and Parekh created multiple interactive stations for their guests. From mehendi to passport cover and wallet customisation, and even Thai flower soaps, the setting encouraged guests to move around, engage, and spend time together at their own pace.

A sangeet full of surprises

The sangeet was high energy and deeply personal. Chokshi made her entry with Parekh in a silver outfit, before slipping away for a quick change into a pink ensemble. She returned for a surprise solo performance to 'Tere Bina', something she had practised for weeks.

She later changed back and rejoined the celebrations, which continued with a lively dance-off between both sides and a live band that kept the energy going.

A wedding transformed by the rain

The wedding took place at a beachside mandap, designed with florals. Chokshi's first entry for the varmala was through dry ice and bubbles, set to Parekh’s favourite song, a moment that left him emotional. She wore a saree designed and made by her mother, adding a personal touch to the ceremony.

And just before her second entry for the rituals, it started raining. Guests were handed clear umbrellas, but Chokshi and Parekh chose to stand without them. The mandap offered some shelter, but the rain changed the mood entirely. What could have been seen as a disruption instead became the most memorable part of the wedding.

Ending on a high note

The celebrations ended with an after party that reflected the couple’s shared memories. Chokshi and Parekh brought in a band they had discovered years ago while bar hopping in Thailand. Drawn in by the music from outside a small bar, they had always remembered the energy of that night. Bringing the same band to their wedding felt like a full circle moment.

In the end, it was not just the planning by The Wedding Galore or the setting that made this wedding special, but the way Chokshi and Parekh embraced the unexpected and turned it into something truly their own.
