Two entrepreneurs, one global love story: Kavaneet and Shobhita celebrate their wedding in New York City

A cross-continental romance unfolded across a vibrant five-day celebration.

Some love stories begin close to home; others travel thousands of miles before finding their moment. For Kavaneet and Shobhita, both Indian-origin entrepreneurs raised in North America, their paths crossed not in familiar surroundings but in Accra, Ghana, where each had independently moved to build companies transforming the future of food and agriculture. What started as a professional collaboration soon blossomed into something deeper.

Drawn together by their shared ambition and willingness to leave comfort behind, the pair found connection in the most unexpected place: a boardroom conversation about building sustainable systems and reshaping global supply chains. As they navigated life as founders in a foreign country, their partnership gradually evolved from friendship to love, grounded in shared values, resilience, and a belief in building something meaningful together.

Their story unfolded across continents.  Shobhita Soor moved to Ghana to launch Legendary Foods, a food-tech venture pioneering insect agriculture to create sustainable protein solutions for underserved communities. Kavaneet, meanwhile, was building KDHI Agriculture, an AI-powered platform digitizing the global flow of agri-commodities. Though they had grown up just hours apart across the U.S.–Canada border, it took crossing the Atlantic and pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams to bring them together.

After introducing one another to their families in New York and Montreal, Kavaneet proposed at Miami’s Vizcaya Gardens with a toi et moi ring, a fitting symbol of two independent paths merging into one. The couple then began planning a wedding that reflected not just their love story, but the diverse cultures and experiences that shaped it.

The celebrations unfolded over five days in New York City, beginning with an intimate Mehendi on the rooftop of the Kimpton Theta in Manhattan, where guests stayed throughout the festivities. The bride wore a zardozi-embroidered kaftan by Prisho paired with custom Qbik x Fooljhadi earrings, a look inspired by West Africa, the place where their love story began.

Next came a dazzling Sangeet at the iconic Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. Designed around a Mughal Empire theme, the evening blended heritage with global influences. A live photobooth by FLUX captured glamorous portraits, while performances ranged from a high-energy fusion dance by Divya Raj’s troupe, combining Afrobeats, Bollywood and bhangra, to a vibrant tabla set by Mankaran Singh Bhasin that kept guests on the dance floor.

Following their Anand Karaj ceremony at the Gurdwara, the couple held their wedding photoshoot at Bethesda Terrace in Central Park. The location held special significance: Kavaneet’s best man and co-founder, Jacob Tawiah Mould, is a descendant of Jacob Wrey Mould, the architect who helped design the landmark in the 19th century. The moment honoured a legacy spanning generations.

The celebrations culminated with a glamorous reception at Cipriani Wall Street, once the nation’s first merchant bank, a fitting setting for a groom who works in global commodities trading. The evening featured performances by Ajna Dance Company alongside a saxophonist and violinist blending global musical styles, including beloved Bollywood classics. Heartfelt speeches from family members added warmth and laughter to the night.

Fashion played a meaningful role throughout the celebrations. Shobhita wore custom creations by Surbhi Shah, SAISHA, and Seema Gujral, while her Haldi ensemble carried deep sentimental value, repurposed from a dupatta belonging to her late mother. Kavaneet’s wardrobe included designs by Sammohan and Sonam & Paras Modi, balancing heritage silhouettes with contemporary tailoring.

Their guest list reflected the remarkable worlds they inhabit: family and friends from New York and Montreal, members of presidential families from Ghana and Liberia, global investors, and fellow entrepreneurs, each representing a community that had supported their journey.

What began as two individuals leaving home in pursuit of purpose ultimately became something far greater. Their wedding was more than a celebration of love, it was a coming together of cultures, continents, and communities that shaped their story. From Accra boardrooms to Manhattan ballrooms, Kavaneet and Shobhita proved that sometimes the most meaningful partnerships are forged far from where the journey begins, only to bring the world closer together in the end.
