This Bengaluru wedding was a celebration of a love story 12 years in the making

Joanna Conde and Aashiv Adnani first met as teenagers at a school gathering in Dubai and quickly became each other’s first love. Then life took them in different directions. Conde moved to Canada while Adnani moved to the US, and the years passed. Twelve years later, after Conde returned to Dubai, a Valentine’s Day reunion brought them back into each other’s lives. What followed was a wedding in Bengaluru that celebrated not just their marriage, but the long journey that had brought them there.

The couple’s three-day wedding was designed around the things that made their relationship personal. With Conde’s Mexican roots and childhood spent across Japan, Canada, and Dubai, alongside Adnani’s upbringing in Dubai, they wanted the celebrations to bring together different parts of their lives. The result was an intimate but immersive wedding, where every ceremony had its own mood and meaning.

A wedding written in the stars

The celebrations began with the Western ceremony, Eternal Garden, on November 1. Conde walked down a mirrored aisle with her parents, surrounded by white flowers and greenery under an open sky. Her Sophie Couture gown became the starting point for the decor, with its soft, sculptural shape reflected in the setting. The open landscape also held a personal connection to Adnani, an avid golfer. A live violinist played as the couple exchanged their vows, keeping the ceremony simple and intimate.

That evening, the mood changed completely for the sangeet, themed Written in the Stars. Cosmic details, floating lights, and celestial hues reflected the idea of two people finding their way back to each other after years apart. The Japanese influence came through at dinner, with food flown in from Izumi Mumbai, a nod to Conde’s childhood in Japan and the couple’s shared love for Japanese cuisine. 

Sacred blooms and a little old-school glamour

The Indian wedding on November 2 moved into a serene setting surrounded by nature. Called Sacred Bloom, the ceremony featured cascading flowers, temple-inspired steps lined with petals and towering floral peacocks around the mandap. Conde made her entrance down a stone staircase in a Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga. Sagar Bhatia performed during the celebrations, which later continued over a dinner spread featuring more than 50 live stations.

The final celebration, After Edit, was inspired by the couple’s favourite fragrance, Baccarat Rouge. Red, gold, candlelight, velvet, and crystal transformed the space into something more glamorous, while DJ Krish of TBOM played nostalgic songs from their school days. 

By the end of the three days, the wedding had travelled through different countries, cultures, memories, and chapters of the couple’s lives. For Conde and Adnani, the details were never simply decor choices. They were reminders of where they came from, what they shared and, perhaps most importantly, how a first love can sometimes find its way back home.
