Inside Vidushi and Tanner’s wedding that celebrates the best of both cultures

A New York date amidst the pandemic, a cinematic proposal in Jaipur, and a wedding that blended Indian heritage with Western ideals—Vidushi and Tanner’s journey is a story of love, patience, and connection.

A memorable first date

In April 2020, amidst the tension of the global pandemic, a love story was quietly beginning to bloom. Vidushi and Tanner met in New York City. Over a lively meal of Spanish tapas, both felt a spark. Vidushi, though cautious, was charmed by Tanner’s quiet efforts. Over long conversations and gentle moments, they realised they had found something precious.

The fairy-tale proposal

Tanner planned a memorable trip to India with his parents under the pretext of meeting Vidushi’s family and experiencing Indian culture. During a getaway to Jaipur, on the anniversary of their first date, Tanner proposed privately in a romantic setting. As a beautiful surprise, both families were waiting nearby to celebrate the moment together, making it a truly cinematic proposal rooted in love and thoughtfulness, sealing not just a union of two hearts but of two families, two cultures, and two worlds.

All the dreamy details

Vidushi, originally from Kolkata, and Tanner, based in the US, wanted their wedding to be a true immersion into Indian traditions. Prior to tying the knot, they indulged in a pre-wedding photoshoot in her hometown. She says, “Kolkata is the city where I'm from and have spent my formative years. Sharing that with Tanner as we explored some of its most quintessential neighbourhoods was extremely special!”

For their wedding venue, the couple chose the majestic Alila Fort Bishangarh for its old-world charm, heritage elegance, and strong commitment to sustainable weddings. It felt like a place steeped in stories—perfect for beginning their new chapter.

Photographer Nitin Arora says, “Every wedding is emotional, but this one carried a unique energy. With guests flying in from around the world, our role was not only to document the couple but to ensure no one was left out of the story. Every hug, every tear, every laugh had meaning. It wasn’t just about creating beautiful images; it was about preserving the feeling of togetherness that Vidushi and Tanner had dreamed of. The joy was in the details: the quiet, private moments between Vidushi and Tanner that mirrored their proposal; the loud bursts of happiness from friends who hadn’t seen each other in years; the parents’ pride that transcended cultural boundaries.”

What makes Vidushi and Tanner’s wedding stand out isn’t just its grandeur, but its authenticity. In an age where weddings often become spectacles of excess, theirs was rooted in meaning. It’s also a grand testament to the fact that cross-cultural unions can be a bridge between worlds, weaving together traditions without losing individuality.
