Inside Rima and Deep's love story, from a proposal in Portugal to a wedding in Udaipur

Set against the timeless beauty of Taj Lalit Bagh, Udaipur, the wedding beautifully blended Gujarati traditions, modern elegance, and deeply personal moments.

Some love stories unfold instantly, while others quietly grow over time. For Rima and Deep, it began years ago during undergrad, when Rima happened to be Deep’s sister’s roommate and best friend. Though they had always known each other, romance wasn’t immediate.

It was only during Deep’s sister’s wedding, where they spent more time together, that something shifted. What followed was a relationship built on ease, friendship, and deep understanding, one that eventually led to a proposal in Portugal’s breathtaking Douro Valley and, later, an elegant wedding celebration at Taj Lalit Bagh in Udaipur.

Spread across four thoughtfully curated events from January 9 to 11, the wedding brought together 280 of their closest family and friends for a celebration that balanced heritage, intimacy, and modern sophistication. Set against the calm beauty of Udaipur’s lakefront, Taj Lalit Bagh offered the perfect backdrop with its quiet grandeur, heritage-inspired architecture, and understated luxury.

Before the wedding itself came another milestone moment: Deep’s proposal in Portugal. Planned around the couple’s five-year anniversary, he proposed at Quinta Do Bomfim vineyard after nervously tracking a thunderstorm threatening to disrupt the evening. Just in time, the skies cleared, giving way to rolling vineyards, sunset views over the Pinhão River, and a deeply intimate celebration that felt perfectly reflective of their relationship.

The festivities began with a vibrant haldi ceremony filled with colour, marigolds, and laughter. Rima wore a bright Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor ensemble paired with Amama jewellery, perfectly complementing the joyful energy of the morning. The celebrations then transitioned into the Grah Shanti and Satak Puja later that evening, where softer tones and traditional Gujarati rituals brought a sense of calm and grounding ahead of the wedding day.

For the wedding ceremony, Taj Lalit Bagh transformed into an intimate yet grand setting illuminated by soft lighting and timeless décor. Rima wore a Gazal Gupta bridal ensemble paired with Purab Paschim by Ankit Khullar jewellery, while Deep chose a classic look by BMore. Soulful live pheras music by Himali Vyas Naik added emotional depth to the ceremony, making the evening feel deeply personal despite its scale.

The final reception served as a glamorous closing chapter to the celebrations. Rima stunned in Tarun Tahiliani, styled with jewellery by Kavya Potluri and Suhani Pittie, while guests celebrated with music, dancing, and elevated hospitality. The evening concluded with one unforgettable surprise, a breathtaking fireworks display curated by Kkings Weddings & Events that lit up the Udaipur sky.

What made Rima and Deep’s wedding stand apart was its ability to feel both grand and deeply personal at once. Every celebration carried intention, from honouring Gujarati traditions to creating meaningful guest experiences and unforgettable moments. Captured beautifully by Light Chamber and Bhowmik Dave Films, the wedding reflected a love story built patiently over time, one rooted in friendship, family, and the kind of connection that only grows stronger with the years.
