From teenage love to the finish line, here's a look at Jehan Daruvala and Maia Shroff’s Parsi wedding

A childhood meeting, eleven years of long distance, and an intimate celebration in the city they call home.

Jehan Daruvala and Maia Shroff’s wedding is a story that has taken its time. He is an Indian racing driver from Mumbai and the first Indian to win a Formula 2 race, with four seasons in the series between 2020 and 2023. She is an entrepreneur who has been by his side since their teenage years. On December 24, 2025, the couple tied the knot in Mumbai, celebrating over a week of intimate, joy-filled events with family and friends.

The two first met when they were both just 15. Shroff had joined a friend for a weekend at Daruvala’s farmhouse in Lonavala, arriving as a plus-one with no expectations. What began as a casual gathering stayed with Daruvala long after it ended.

At the time, he was living in England, balancing his education with an early Formula racing career. A few days later, he asked a friend for her number, and the two began texting. When he returned to India a few months later, he asked her to be his girlfriend. What followed was eleven years of growing up together, shaped by long-distance, racing seasons, and evolving moments.

With Daruvala based in the UK, distance became part of their relationship early on. “Long distance was obviously very hard. The biggest challenge was not being able to see each other, and even when we did, it was never for long stretches of time,” says Shroff.

They made it a rule to never go too long without seeing each other, with Daruvala flying back every two to three months. However, the hardest phase came during COVID-19, when eight months passed without meeting. “We spoke every day without fail, video-called regularly, and I would text him throughout the day about the stupidest things,” she adds. Keeping each other involved in daily life helped the distance feel manageable.

The proposal

Eleven years later, Daruvala planned a proposal that reflected what mattered most to Shroff: family. He chose Lake Como, Italy, and with the help of his mother, sister, and Shroff’s elder sister, planned an intimate moment that surprised her completely. Emotional and personal, it set the tone for the wedding that followed.

The celebrations

The couple’s wedding festivities unfolded across Mumbai. The sangeet was hosted at Taj Lands End in Bandra, while the wedding ceremony took place at the Turf Club. For Shroff, one of the most memorable events was the Alibaug celebration with her bridesmaids. “Alibaug was definitely my favourite function because it felt like everyone came ready to rage and party really hard,” she says. Despite being a long daytime event, the energy stayed high throughout.

The décor brief throughout the celebrations was intentionally simple. “We wanted to keep it minimal, classy, and elegant,” says Shroff. Red set the tone for the sangeet, while the wedding leaned into bridal whites with hints of green.

Tradition, their way

Though neither Daruvala nor Shroff consider themselves deeply traditional, they wanted to include meaningful Parsi elements throughout the wedding festivities. Shroff’s brother performed the Madavsaro, while the women in the family conducted the Supra ceremony. The result was a celebration that felt rooted yet personal.

For both Daruvala and Shroff, the most special part of the week was seeing loved ones come together. “Seeing everyone we love make the effort to fly in from all over the world just to celebrate us was incredibly special,” they share.

Surrounded by friends and family, the couple marked not just a wedding, but a partnership shaped by time, patience, and enduring love.
