From love letters to '90s nostalgia, a peek into Anshula Kapoor’s emotional roka celebration

Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s roka was an intimate, love-filled affair, complete with 90s nostalgia, personal touches, and decor that celebrated their story in the most heartfelt way.

When it comes to celebrating love, few things feel as special as moments that reflect who you truly are—and that’s exactly what Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s roka ceremony was all about. Held in Mumbai, the celebration wasn’t a grand spectacle, but a deeply emotional and personal affair that perfectly captured the essence of their love story.

The photos from the ceremony, shared on social media by the bride-to-be, her brother Arjun Kapoor, and their close family, instantly won hearts. Dressed in a striking purple lehenga by Arpita Mehta, Kapoor glowed with understated elegance, while Thakkar complemented her in a custom Kunal Rawal kurta set. The two were seen laughing, hugging, and surrounded by the warmth of family and friends. The vibe was cozy, emotional, and full of nostalgia—a reflection of the couple’s journey together.

For those who’ve followed their story, Kapoor and Thakkar have always kept things low-key. Their relationship became Instagram official last year, and since then, fans have loved seeing glimpses of their easy, affectionate bond. Thakkar, a screenwriter and theatre artist, and Kapoor, who runs her own charity platform Fankind, share a love for storytelling, laughter, and all things simple and real—qualities that came alive beautifully through their roka decor.

The entire celebration was designed and executed by Three Entertainment, led by Aashna Lalwani, whose team was tasked with turning Kapoor's vision into reality. She shared that Kapoor wanted her roka to be deeply personal, nostalgic and rooted in the 90s era she grew up in.

And so, the decor became more than just a backdrop—it became a storytelling canvas. Every element had meaning. “This one felt extra emotional and intimate,” Lalwani tells Brides Today. “Usually our designs lean heavily on aesthetic direction, but here, every detail told a story. From Rohan's handwritten love letters to Anshula, and references from her favourite 90’s TV shows, it was less about opulence and more about creating something that was truly theirs.”

The decor combined delicate florals with nostalgic motifs, personal photographs, and handwritten notes that hung like whispers of memory. One of the most touching details was a chair dedicated to Kapoor's late mother, Mona Kapoor—a quiet but powerful tribute that stood as the emotional centrepiece of the setup. "That single detail carried so much love and emotion that it became the soul of the entire setup," Lalwani shares.

What truly made the roka stand out was its sincerity. In a time when celebrity celebrations often lean toward grandeur, Kapoor and Thakkar chose intimacy and meaning. Their roka wasn’t about spectacle, but about soul—a day filled with laughter, tears, and memories that will no doubt remain close to their hearts.
