From a Jeff Bezos quote on Hinge to a palace wedding in London—this love story has it all

Vidushi and Naman’s London wedding had everything—from a Hinge meet-cute and spontaneous proposals to a palace varmala and a surprise sighting of the Northern Lights.

From a Hinge swipe to a palace wedding (with a surprise cameo by the northern lights!), Vidushi and Naman’s love story is one for the books—and their London celebration, a modern-day fairytale.

How they met

"We matched on Hinge in May 2021—he had a quote from Jeff Bezos on his profile, and I was probably the first person who replied to it! What started as a curious chat quickly turned into a first date that felt like we’d known each other for years. There was an immediate spark. Over the next few months, we bonded over food (a mutual obsession), explored London’s restaurants, and discovered how much we valued the same things: spontaneous travel, quiet nights in, and being completely ourselves around each other. From dancing till 6 am to sharing home-cooked meals, we realised that what we truly loved was simply being together.”

The next step

“There wasn’t one big moment—just many little ones that made it clear we were meant to build a life together. In May 2023, during a spontaneous trip to Amsterdam, Naman casually asked me to marry him. A week later, in New York, he asked again—this time with a ring. It was sweet, surprising, and perfectly us.”

Leading up to the big day

"Our families met and clicked instantly, which made everything smoother. We threw an engagement party in Dubai and decided to host the wedding in London—our home. Planning a big Indian wedding here came with its challenges, but every hurdle felt worth it because we were doing it together as one big team.”

Memories that will last a lifetime

"The celebrations began on Naman’s birthday with an intimate dinner and a surprise appearance by the northern lights—yes, in London! It felt like the universe was cheering us on. Our varmala at Hampton Court Palace felt straight out of a dream—seeing each other as bride and groom in that setting was overwhelming in the best way. And then there was Atif Aslam’s performance. For three magical hours, no one left the dance floor. Not even him.”

My advice

"Weddings can become about a lot of things—but at the heart of it all, they’re about love. Ours, and the love our families poured into every detail. We realised early on that keeping everyone happy, especially our parents, made us happy too. Also, once the celebrations begin, let go. Trust your planning, and just live in the moment. The joy, the chaos, the hugs, the tears—that’s the part you’ll carry with you forever.”
