Elizabeth & Nikhil's chance dinner in Dubai turned into a royal wedding in Rajasthan

This couple celebrated with traditional Hindu and English ceremonies spanning three countries.

Elizabeth and Nikhil Vazirani’s journey spans continents. She grew up in central London, and he started out in Mumbai, spent years in Germany and London, and later relocated to Dubai when his family moved their base there. Today, the couple calls Dubai their home, carrying pieces of London, Mumbai, and beyond with them.

Despite their global lives and professional commitments, their love story began in the simplest way: through a mutual friend and a dinner invitation in Dubai.

From London connections to Valentine’s in St Moritz

Years earlier, they had almost crossed paths in London. She visited a building where he lived, yet their worlds never overlapped. It was only after nearly eight years in Dubai that fate stepped in. During a conference visit, a mutual friend invited them both to dinner, and they bonded over sailing, skiing, the ocean, and a shared appetite for spontaneity.

He asked her out the same day and even booked himself onto her flight back to London. By Valentine’s Day, they were skiing together in St Moritz.

The first year of their relationship unfolded across time zones, with flights every few weeks and long stretches apart. They also navigated cultural differences, learning how to meet in the middle. What stood out most to her was the warmth of his family, something that slowly became her own.

A proposal on the water

Months later, during Diwali in Dubai, he suggested a casual jet-ski outing before her flight back to London. Out at sea, they pulled up to a yacht decorated with a heart of red flowers. Inside, he had arranged a new dress, shoes, and her makeup essentials. On the upper deck, with music from The Parent Trap playing and the Dubai skyline in view, he asked her to marry him. It was thoughtful, personal, and joyful.

They legally signed their marriage on November 3 in Abu Dhabi, exactly one year after the proposal.

Making Udaipur their own

From November 15 to 18, the celebrations moved to Udaipur. Vazirani’s childhood memories of Rajasthan made the city feel familiar, and the couple hosted 215 guests from across the world.

Each event included booklets explaining the rituals, ensuring that international guests understood the traditions they were witnessing.

Two ceremonies, countless details

The décor evolved with each function. A pastel welcome lunch introduced Rajasthani motifs and playful elements. The sangeet featured glass backdrops and digital peacocks. The Hindu ceremony centred on a giant lotus mandap by the lake, while the English wedding transformed the forecourt with nearly 50,000 white roses, creating a setting straight out of a fairytale.

For the Vaziranis, the most powerful moment was seeing two cultures blend effortlessly. What began with a dinner invitation became a celebration that honoured heritage, family, and a shared future.
