A three-day celebration of rain, rhythm, and romance in the heart of Udaipur

From stormy skies and sunlit celebrations to a starlit black-tie reception, Poonam and Will Capitani’s multi-day wedding in Udaipur unfolded as a whirlwind of colour, culture, and unforgettable joy.

Set against the romantic landscape of Udaipur, Poonam Kamdar Capitani and Will Capitani’s wedding was a celebration that beautifully balanced splendour with heartfelt intimacy. What began under dramatic rain clouds soon transformed into a sun-kissed, high-energy affair filled with laughter, dancing, and moments that felt straight out of a dream. Hosted at the Radisson Blu Udaipur, their three-day celebration was nothing short of magical.

Their story, however, began long before Udaipur—nine years ago in the most classic of college settings, a frat party. Since then, they have navigated their twenties side by side as best friends and partners, from graduating and moving to New York seven years ago to working late nights in finance, earning promotions, building lives, and growing together through every chapter. Balancing each other effortlessly, they entered marriage already grounded in gratitude for the life they’ve shaped together.

The celebrations commenced with an intimate welcome cocktail at the picturesque Jag Mandir Palace. Though a thunderstorm swept through the evening, it only added to the drama and romance of the moment. Surrounded by close family and their wedding party, the couple embraced the rain and the surreal surroundings, setting the tone for a weekend that proved no element could dampen their spirits. For the welcome party, the bride wore a striking green blazer set by Mani Bhatia, perfectly in sync with the evening’s chic yet relaxed mood.

The following morning, the skies cleared just in time for a vibrant haldi and mehendi celebration. Brimming with colour and kinetic energy, the afternoon unfolded with carnival-style games, lively activities, free-flowing drinks, and endless dancing. The bride chose a joyful blue and yellow lehenga by Nea by Nikita Tiwari, capturing the playful spirit of the event as loved ones gathered to celebrate with uninhibited delight.

As evening fell, the festivities transitioned into a glittering sangeet night. The couple made a sparkling entrance as friends and family took to the stage with heartfelt performances. The beats of dandiya and dhol kept the energy soaring as laughter and dance filled every corner of the venue. Poonam shimmered in a gold lehenga by Vandana Sethi, perfectly complementing the celebratory glamour of the night.

Day three unfolded with unmatched vibrance as the baraat took centre stage. In a dramatic and regal moment, Will arrived on an elephant as guests danced with roaring enthusiasm all the way to the vermala. Against a breathtaking backdrop of mountains and the shimmering lake, the couple exchanged garlands amidst showers of flower petals and resounding cheers. The ceremony that followed took place atop a rooftop mandap framed by sweeping panoramic views, lending a serene, almost ethereal quality to their sacred vows. For the wedding, Poonam was a vision in a traditional lehenga by Raagwaas, embodying timeless bridal elegance.

As night fell, the celebrations shifted into a sophisticated black-tie reception. With an electrifying live band keeping the dance floor packed, the evening unfolded into a night of high spirits and ceaseless celebration. The bride changed into a glamorous gown by Bharti Aashna for the occasion, radiating modern elegance. The revelry continued well past midnight with an after-party at the Game Galaxy Arcade. Dressed in their finest pyjamas, guests indulged in arcade games, devoured plates of nostalgic Maggi, and danced into the early hours of the morning.

From the brazen beauty of the first evening’s rain showers to the petal-filled moments that followed across the wedding events, the couple truly felt showered in love, joy, and blessings throughout their celebration.

Poonam and Will Capitani’s Udaipur wedding was a heartfelt reminder that the most beautiful celebrations are those that unfold naturally, with love and laughter, through rain or sunshine. Thoughtfully planned and joyfully lived, their wedding was not just a visual spectacle, but the continuation of a nine-year journey of friendship, partnership, and growing up together—one they now begin as husband and wife.
