Shazahn Padamsee walked into her wedding to a song she secretly recorded for Ashish Kanakia

Shazahn Padamsee and Ashish Kanakia’s wedding was the kind of celebration where even the smallest details had a story behind them. From the pastel pink decor and Shrinathji Pichwai artwork to the music, food, and family performances, the festivities felt closely tied to the couple and the people they hold closest.

For Padamsee, the décor brought a long-held dream to life. She had imagined a whimsical pink wonderland for her wedding, which came together through pastel florals and traditional Pichwai details. But it was her bridal entry that became one of the most personal moments of the celebrations. As her brothers pulled back a sweeping cloth screen, Padamsee walked towards Kanakia to a secret cover of Sajni Re. She had recorded the song herself especially for him, making the moment feel like something meant just for the two of them.

The celebrations brought plenty of colour and culture too. Kanakia’s baraat had a distinctly Kathiawadi flavour, with traditional Garba dancers and artists joining the festivities. The sangeet, meanwhile, became an emotional family affair. Padamsee paid tribute to her late father, theatre legend Alyque Padamsee, before her mother, singer Sharon Prabhakar, surprised her with a performance.

Food and wine had their own place in the wedding story. Kanakia’s father opened his private cellar for the celebrations, serving rare vintage wines he had collected over the years. The menu brought together a line-up of chefs and restaurants, including Jose, Seefah & Karan, Peikko, Bombay Canteen, Benne, and the School of European Pastry, creating a culinary experience for their guests.

By the time the reception began, the mood had shifted completely. Jackie Shroff, Vidya Balan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sajid Khan, and Siddharth Kannan were among the guests who joined the celebrations. Liquid Blue opened the evening before DJs Grossomodo and Mark IV took over, moving between Afro-house beats and Bollywood anthems. The party continued well into the morning, with the dance floor staying busy until sunrise.

Padamsee and Kanakia's wedding offered a glimpse of what actually matters to them. There was room for tradition, but also for personal surprises. There were family memories, old wines, music, food, and plenty of dancing. More than anything, the celebrations felt like a gathering of the people, places, and memories that have shaped the couple, making the wedding feel distinctly their own.
