One can never go wrong with a classic wine-and-dine situation when it comes to date night, and picking out the right restaurant is half the battle. While the evolving food scene and stretching sea views of Mumbai have their own charm, there’s always room for something more romantic and memorable for a date night. Consider a curated multi-course meal for your special someone, or head out on a delectable dining experience in an intimate Mediterranean setting. These 5 romantic restaurants in Mumbai have it all, so you don’t have to worry about planning the perfect date night.

Gigi, Bandra

Set in the heart of Bandra, Gigi stretches across two storeys and 6,000 sqft. The luxurious setting elevates the mood with its chandeliers, winding stairway, and layered white lace curtains. The spot has quickly transformed into Bandra’s hottest address for date night. The craft cocktail menu features some innovative and interesting drinks. The menu is a medley of European and Japanese flavours, including dishes like salmon cannelloni and ramen lasagna. The spicy vodka pasta– inspired by Gigi Hadid’s viral pasta recipe– is a fun, crowd-pleasing dish with a kick of habanero chilli flakes. A Mumbai hotspot known equally as a somewhere to dress up and slip on your dancing shoes and for its incredible East Asian dining menu. Its pan-Asian palette features elements of Japanese and Cantonese cuisines, which is also reflected in the bar’s approach to flavour, including its famed tom yum cocktail (a chilled vodka version of the Thai soup). Textures, flavours and fragrances come together to make each dish a hit, especially the edamame black rice and the Malaysian red curry. The sushi bar, the unforgettable cocktails, and the glamour of the ambience make it perfect for date night!

Circle Sixty-Nine, Worli

Tucked away in a quiet Worli bylane is the Kathiwada City House, a residence the synonymous family has converted into a culture-forward private members club. Here, Circle Sixty Nine is Sangita Kathiwada’s amalgamation of nature, art, and food. The gate and an arching tree shut the city out. A walk under the almond trees heads into the sanctum of Circle Sixty Nine, a galleria-bistro where the doors open to the notes of smooth jazz. The food menu was created in collaboration with Aditi Dugar’s Urban Gourmet India. In keeping with the original inspiration for a bistro, the team leans into European fare, but there is a distinct touch of the Middle East and the Mediterranean- through the Zatar Sourdough, a Lamb Shawarma Bao, the Barramundi Ceviche, and Confit Duck Leg.

La Panthera

Past the ornate black door emblazoned with a minimal gold panther, when you walk into La Panthera, you enter what feels like a chic living room of a European manor, with exceptionally high ceilings, maximal renaissance-inspired artwork on the walls, and gold chandeliers– yet its set right in the heart of Mumbai. Chef Manuel Olveira, the man behind La Loca Maria, envisioned a space that captured the old-world charm of Europe. Timeless European classics and contemporary culinary techniques combine in the menu. Don’t miss the Carpaccio and the woodfired pizzas, made from dough that’s been fermented for 48 hours. Allow yourself and your beau to revel in the opulent setting leisurely, with a good bottle of wine, of course!
