Italian fashion maestro Giorgio Armani showcased his exclusive ‘Privé’ collection at the Paris Haute Couture Week 2018 in the Italian embassy yesterday. The ambience was overwhelmingly bedazzling with the thick parquet flooring and two gigantic chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, in addition to the ensembles on display, of course.
The collection comprised of 94 looks themed around a regal cocktail dinner or a glamorous red carpet. The show started with sharp suits and evening dresses with a feminine flamboyance that screamed of Giorgio’s red carpet artistry. In an elegant and dignified palette of black and Champagne, the suit jackets were streamlined and sleek, paired with silk pants. The exuberance of atelier came through not in the silhouettes but through the clever use of fabrics such as black velvet that contrasted against the metallic shimmer of a satin lamé bodice.
The show then took an unexpected turn from its muted, elegant power dressing to dramatic gowns made from long trails made of tulle; voluminous feather skirts; a headpiece made from a cloud of chiffon, and lots of crystals and sequin. Fuchsia, sapphire, turquoise and jade lit up the runway.
