'My personal style is about comfort and what suits my body,” says Kriti Sanon. And it's evident when she arrives for her first-ever Brides Today cover shoot, dressed in a tank top, cropped boyfriend jeans, and white sneakers. Even so, she commands an undeniable star presence. Her skin is flawless, her posture statuesque, and she wears Tarun Tahiliani’s bridal couture like a dream.
What kind of a bride do you think you’ll be?
I want to be chill. I want to wear something pretty, but not uncomfortable or heavy. I want to be myself and dance at my own wedding, not just attend to people or pose for photographs. I would love to wear sneakers—I would not be wearing heels, for sure. And I have a feeling that I won’t be someone who would cry during the bidaai.
Say you have five minutes to get ready—what are your essentials?
I’d wear shorts and a crop top or ganji, with a pair of sneakers. For makeup, a basic concealer, mascara, and a tint that I can use for my lips and cheeks. I usually leave my hair open but if I’m having a bad hair day, then a messy bun.
What’s your favourite thing about Tarun Tahiliani’s clothes?
The fact that there is something for every kind of personality. There are some really stunning lehengas with amazing cuts and embroidery for when you want something heavier, but also these dreamy pastels. There’s both ethnic and modern, and that’s what I like. His clothes would make anyone feel special, but at the same time they’re comfortable and easygoing—and that’s how he is, too.
There’s something special about soup in the monsoons—it’s still cosy and comforting, but lighter, brighter, and packed with fresh flavours.
