Think old school charm in the Instagram era – the annual high fashion invite-only event, Le Bal des Débutantes or the Debutante’s Ball has a rather charming Indian entrant this time around too.
Shanaya Kapoor will be making her social debut at the glamorous soiree accompanied by her father, actor Sanjay Kapoor, with whom she will also share the first dance.

Well, give a woman the right couture and she can conquer the world. And, Shanaya has entrusted master couturiers of Lecoanet Hemant with this task.
“For my big debut, I wanted to collaborate with a seasoned designer who is familiar with couture. Not only have Lecoanet Hemant been a prominent name at Le Bal, over the years they have dressed royalty and young debutants who made their mark through this platform,” she tells Brides Today.
The couture label has dressed many debutantes, also called 'debs', for the event such as Princess Ananya Raje Scindia in 2018 and Princess Shaiyra Devi of Karputhla in 2011.

Sure enough, at the atelier, the ensemble was lovingly made by a team of Lecoanet Hemant artisans, including four hand workers and three tailors, who spent 250 hours getting every detail right. Designer Hemant Sagar, the force behind the couture label, terms the outfit as ‘a true couture creation’.

He says, “Red is a personal favourite of Shanaya’s and we wanted to honour her choice. The craftsmanship of deftly and delicately hand embroidered scarlet and black threads applique are meant to add to the dream-like qualities of her gown. The gown reflects both – the confident, glamorous and independent personality of Shanaya Kapoor and also reflects the high regard for the prestigious sense of tradition of Le Bal des Debutantes 2019.”
Featuring a sleek bodice and a fluid skirt, the gown includes an embroidery base created by a special thread technique incorporated with Bullion stitch and French knots. Red ruffles in satin face silk organza and embroidery on an illusion tulle base add to the spirited scarlet hue.

As Shanaya puts in succinctly, “I wanted my outfit to reflect who I am. Red is my favourite colour whereas the ruffles and feathers are symbolic of my lively and light-hearted demeanour.”
Bridal makeup has evolved into a process that celebrates natural, fresh beauty.
Not quite blue, not quite green, teal strikes the perfect balance, bringing richness, depth, and a modern edge to bridal and festive wardrobes.
