A. Lange And Söhne Launches Exclusive Collection Of Watches As Homage To Walter Lange

German luxury watchmaker, A. Lange and Söhne, known for their prestigious high-quality precision watches, celebrated their 27^th anniversary on the 7^th of December, 2017.

The heritage company was originally founded on the 7^th of December 1845, by Ferdinand Adolph Lange, in the town of Glashütte, Saxony. Lange produced premium pocket watches with finesse. Later on, the company started producing oversized wrist watches, that were used by the German airmen in World War II. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, the company ceased to operate post war, until 1990, when Walter Lange, Adolf’s great-grandson restored the company’s lost glory and registered Lange officially. With the help of Swiss watch giants like IWC and Jaeger LeCoultre, today A. Lange and Söhne operates globally and is a part of the Richemont group.

A. Lange and Söhne 1815 'Homage to Walter Lange' Watch in Yellow Gold  

Due to Walter Lange’s unforeseen death in January 2017, on the second day of Salon International de la Haute Horlogerié Genève 2017, the company decided to honour their founder, by adding on to their 1815 model family with the 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange”. The watch has an unusual complication, that pays tribute to the 150-year-old innovation by Ferdinand Adolf Lange: a ticking seconds hand, that can be stopped.

The latest addition to the 1815 category comes in three editions: 145 watches in white gold, 90 in pink gold, and 27 in yellow gold. These uncommon numbers are reminiscent of the important milestones that the company has crossed – the passage of 145 years until it was officially registered on the 7^th of December 1990, under the name Lange Uhren GmbH and 27 years of the company.

However, there is going to be only one 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” with a black enamel dial and a steel case, that is symbolic of the uniqueness of the man whose name the watch bears. This one will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go for charity.
