Meet The Payal Singhal Brides

"We made sure each look was different from the other. We also dressed most of the wedding party (from her bridesmaids to the kids in the family), while also keeping in mind that no embroidery or print that anyone else wore clashed with the bride."

Payal says, "Leena is my sister-in-law’s sister, so this was a family wedding for me. Leena has been a #PSBridesmaid before, and for her wedding, all her looks were from us. She had a very clear vision, her outfits were more important than the jewellery for her!" 

The bride, Akshera Rai, says, "I love Payal Singhal because her outfits are always very young and fun. They are stylish, contemporary and comfortable while still being edgy. For my sangeet, I wanted to wear purple because it is husband’s favourite colour. I also wanted a skirt which wasn’t very heavy so that I could dance easily. Moreover, the tassel blouse gave my outfit a grunge twist. The ultimate vibe was one which I had always wanted for my sangeet."

"The lehenga she is wearing in black is one that was being made in emerald green in velvet for the show. She chose hers before it even debuted on the runway! She already had her heart set on a choli and the stone-and-black combination from our previous collections. So, her final look was the perfect mix of the old and the new!"

"Sonia got married in Muskoka, Canada and chose PS for her black-tie reception, where she wanted to stay true to her roots. She flew to Mumbai with the Live The Collective team to especially customise her outfit. We were preparing for our Qo’shilish collection when she visited the office." 

"Lavleen got our Ava brocade strip lehenga from Live The Collective in Toronto looking for a last-minute reception look. The only tweak we made to it for her was adding dramatic sleeves to the blouse, that was originally a sleeveless one."

"Seema met me during a trunk show at Live The Collective in Toronto. She wanted a traditional look with a bohemian edge for her wedding. She picked her favourite elements from our designs for this custom piece. While bridal red is not a colour we normally work with, we gave this one our signature touch with our peacock embroidery, scallops and tassel hem."

"Seema was originally supposed to fly down to India to meet me for her wedding outfit. But here’s the twist — there were some unforeseen flight hiccups, and her flight was unexpectedly diverted to London. It so happened that I was in London for my trunk show with Aashni + Co at the time. So, Seema ended up meeting me there and ordered this lehenga, which she wore for her wedding in Mexico!"

"Hardeep Sahota chose a classic PS navy blue lehenga with head-to-toe embroidery from House of Raina. It was the first outfit she tried on and wore for her reception."

"We decided to make it hot pink to contrast the other yellow outfit she chose from us. For her groom, we created a kurta and bandi set in a matching ikat print from the same collection."

"Sonia Sahi was shopping on a tight timeline but she wanted all her wedding looks to be very different. The yellow lehenga with the peacock embroidery and off-shoulder blouse was the first one she chose and wore it for her sangeet. Her groom was in a matching sherwani too. For the Mehendi, she was in a tassel blouse and lehenga set from the Sanat collection. The piece was originally in grey, she selected it through an image via House of Raina in Vancouver, and left the choice of colour to use."

"Arshdeep Dhillon wanted something vibrant for her sangeet in Cancun, Mexico.  It had to be traditional with a little edge, and she loved the tassel back of this lehenga from our 'Sanat' collection, ordered from House of Raina in Vancouver," says the designer.
