The Royal Bride In Classic Blue: Celebrity Makeup Experts Tell You How To Wear Pantone Color Of The Year

Smokey eyes with a moody blue twist or a minimal swipe of blue mascara, add drama to your makeup with this royal hue

Here comes the bride….and she’s wearing blue!

Peaceful, calming and at the same time bold, dramatic – the 2020 Pantone Colour of the Year is a rather versatile shade with umpteen makeup possibilities.

Blue is an amazing colour for brides. I definitely see it being the perfect shade for reception and cocktail functions or even mehendi. If done right, it looks stunning on Indian complexion,” says expert bridal makeup artist Shagun Gupta.

So, if you are looking to go all out with Classic Blue or just want a dab of the hue for your bridal makeup look, we have all the inspiration you need.

A blue gaze…

The Pantone-approved shade of blue is a perfect dark hue for the much-requested smokey eyes. You can also use a hint of the colour to jazz up your regular black, classic smokey look.

“I just did this look for a bride for her cocktail function. Even though she was more of a minimal style loving person, she told me to go all out. So I gave her smokey eyes with black but on the lower lid I dramatized it with a blue smokey under eye,” says Shagun.

Meanwhile, celebrity makeup artist and makeup expert at Avon, Shraddha Bachani wants you to delve into Cannes archives to find the perfect inspo, she says, “Pantone Classic Blue, the colour of 2020, is not new for makeup— Cannes has regularly seen Aishwarya Rai in some shade of blue, glamorous smokey eyes are replaced by blue palettes instead of blacks. This shade can be used as everyday wear, if you are feeling a bit intimidated, try using just a little and overlay it with a dewier shade so it’s approachable or you can balance them out with neutral shades.”

Not feeling a tad adventurous? Well, you can still cop this hue to match your bridal trousseau. “Another great way to go blue without going all out, a kohl eyeliner looks ace when smudged into the lash line. Pair it with blue mascara for even more of a wow-factor,” says Shraddha.

The minimalistic take on Classic blue is perfect even for the low key bride or her bridesmaids.

“I did a blue eyeliner for a girl who was attending a wedding and wanted to try something different without being dramatic. I gave her a glitter blue eyeliner and if you see her face, it is highlighted and I have given her a soft pink lip colour. We havent overdone anything else. We have let her down so there’s nothing dramatic about her face except for the glittering blue,” says Shagun.
