Summer weddings: beauty products that every bride should have in her kit, according to celebrity makeup artists

We ask experts for the best products you should be using if you’re getting married in the summer.

Summer weddings are great on many fronts. Florals are in full bloom, you have a host of venue options to choose from, be it outdoors, a mountain backdrop or even a classic city wedding. Everything else apart, the summer heat can play spoilsport when it comes to your bridal makeup, especially when you’ve spent months curating your mood board and ensuring every aspect of your look is just perfect.
We’ve done the legwork for you and spoke to leading makeup artists on the best makeup products you can use as a bride, especially if it’s a summer wedding.

Shradha Luthra, Doll You Up by S

Known for her minimalist approach to bridal makeup, Luthra has dolled up several celebrities and brides, including the very recent nuptials of Alanna Panday. Her advice is to use products that are lightweight and hydrating, and not overly heavy on the skin. “My go-to is the Charlotte Tilbury skin mist. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t make your makeup heavy or patchy,” she offers.

Guerlain Gold Radiance Primer is a go-to as well, she says.  “It's lightweight and serum-based. So, it basically ensures your makeup is long-lasting. It is also infused with real gold flakes, making it super luxe and rich on the skin.”

Another top pick for her is the Givenchy Prisme Blush. “This is basically a loose powder blush. It gives a beautiful flush of colour and is great to wear in this weather because it doesn’t melt and helps keep your makeup intact.”

Kajol R Paswwan

According to Paswwan, a Mumbai-based luxury bridal makeup artist, sunscreens are a must, especially during summer seasons. One of her top picks is LA Shield. She recommends investing in a good moisturiser, despite what you might think about using this product in the summer months. “My holy grail moisturiser is the Oceglow water cream which works on all skin types.”

She also suggests sticking to matte foundations like Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation or Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation for longevity. “Avoid using too many cream-based products in the summer, as these can melt your makeup.”

To seal everything in place, she recommends setting your face with a powder like the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish or MAC Studio Fix. “Finally, lock your makeup properly with MAC Fix plus or Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray,” she suggests.

Meera Bhandari

The Jaipur-based bridal makeup artist suggests keeping your skin well-hydrated and using lightweight foundations and concealers. “If you have dry skin, stick to using more liquid products than powder ones, and always use a sheet mask before starting your makeup. For those with oily-prone skin, use a mineral-based foundation or a lightweight serum. Brands like Dior, Bobbi Brown, Lancôme and Too Faced offer a good range,” she suggests.

Apart from that, some of her top picks include Mario Badescu’s hydrating face mist, Smash Box Photo Finish Primer, and Benefit Cosmetics or NARS liquid blush for that flushed look.
