Whether you are a minimalist bride hoping to cruise through her wedding with a subtle beauty look or are all set for a full face of makeup with elaborate smokey eyes perfect for the glamourous bride, it all begins with the right products.
From the foundation that forms the perfect base to mascara that is strong enough to handle the vidaai (even when your emotions can't), we spoke to celebrity makeup artist Arti Nayar to find out her Holy Grail products for a flawless bridal look.
Brides Today: What is your favourite foundation when it comes to bridal makeup?
Arti Nayar: My favourite foundation when it comes to bridal makeup is a brand called TEMPTU which is well-known for its air-brushing foundations and kits. I particularly love the airbrushing foundation because it lasts for many hours without doing a touch-up. So I completely stand by that. But I also do love the Armani and Chanel foundations because they are amazing for people who are not used to airbrush.

BT: How can we pick out a foundation closest to our skin tone?
AN: The best way to pick a foundation is NOT to try the foundation on your hand or on your wrist like people usually do in stores. I think the best way to do this is to take a little bit of foundation and apply it on the lower side of your cheek on a small area. Keep it on for a couple of hours – go to the mall, do your other things and see how the foundation sits on your skin.
Then you will get a clear idea about how the foundation settles on your skin, how your skin reacts to it, whether it is too heavy or too light, or do you want more coverage or lesser. In my opinion, this is the best way to try out a foundation.
BT: Which is your favourite mascara of all times?
AN: My favourite mascara would probably be the Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof Mascara because it lasts really long and does not run even if you cry. It’s not clumpy at all and I think it glides very smoothly on the lashes. I like the fullness it brings.

The one thing that you should remember while applying mascara is that when you take the wand out of the bottle, always remove the excess before applying. This avoids clumpy, spider lashes.
