Nail accessories to add a playful touch to your bridal look

When the subject comes up of weddings, and in particular of brides, we pay close attention to the details. Whether it is the beautiful mirror work on a lehenga or the elaborate patterns and designs painted on a bride's hands, each little aspect has been carefully considered. 

As trends change, brides and the brands that are making jewellery for them also adapt. At the moment, brides are looking beyond traditional accessories such as haath phools, bangles and rings, and are trying out something much smaller but just as striking — nail accessories. What used to be an unusual way of decorating the fingers is now attracting the attention of modern brides, with homegrown brands investigating new methods of incorporating the fingertips into the bridal look.

Bhavya Ramesh 

The brand was established in 2018 by a computer science engineer, Bhavya Ramesh, and has attracted attention for its experimental silver jewellery and its unique nail accessories. By combining Indian tribal crafts with futuristic, mythological and edgy elements, it produces jewellery that has both a traditional feel and a contemporary look.

What distinguishes its nail accessories is the fact that it uses silver as an alternative to conventional nail art. Rather than using nail paints, acrylics or decorations that are glued on, the brand turns the nail itself into a piece of jewellery. In some of the designs elements such as kundan, beads and other traditional decorations are included, thus giving each piece its individual character and story.

Shop Lune

Shop Lune was founded by Sreesha Shetty and presents a new perspective on nail decoration, incorporating “craftsmanship, individuality and femininity” in its nail accessories by turning the fingertips into an extension of jewellery.

Shop Lune provides a more contemporary interpretation through sculptural nail pieces that enable brides to decorate their fingertips without in any way detracting from the rest of their bridal appearance.

Kavya Potluri

Kavya Potluri concentrates on converting jewellery into sculptural forms, just as she does with her nail accessories. Instead of just decorating the nail, her designs investigate the nail and fingertip as a three-dimensional jewellery surface.

The pieces, with their dramatic shapes and elaborate silhouettes, turn into statement accessories which go beyond the usual concept of a ring or nail art.

Madiha Jaipur

For a bride who is seeking a style that is minimal, experimental and based on craftsmanship, Madiha Jaipur should be considered. Established by two friends, the brand is famous for working with unconventional materials and techniques.

The use of materials including brass and wood imparts a special character to its nail rings, offering a lively alternative to conventional bridal accessories.

Amama Jewels

Amama Jewels looks at nail accessories from the point of view of occasion, celebration and traditional ornamentation. Its nail jewellery gives the fingertip an appearance almost like a crown, which makes it very suitable for use in festive and bridal styling.

Drawing on traditional jewellery styles, the designs enable brides to include an additional degree of decoration in their appearance without having to depend solely on conventional items such as bangles, necklaces or haath phools.

People have always been attracted by kangans, necklaces, maang tikas and long pendants in order to complete their look. Since trends keep evolving, contemporary brides are now seeking out fresh looks to ensure that they stand out.
