8 jewellery pieces from the Ambani wedding that we have our eyes on

Everyone's been talking about the show-stopping outfits at the Ambani-Merchant wedding but can we just take a moment for the beautiful jewellery pieces that stole the show?

The only talked-about event last week was the big Ambani wedding—Anant Ambani tied the knot with his beau of years, Radhika Merchant. The grand festivities of the wedding of Anant, the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika, the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoon Viren and Shaila Merchant included everything from performances by international artists including Justin Bieber. However, the highlight of the wedding was the opulent jewellery that the Ambani family adorned.

It's no surprise that the groom donned a lavish brooch with emeralds and diamonds created by Heeramaneck & Son for his wedding day. Weighing 720 carats with a panther crouched on a large boulder-shaped Zambian emerald, the brand designed this special ornament keeping in mind the groom's love for animals.

The mother of the groom, Nita Ambani was seen wearing the most exquisite pieces of jewellery through her son's wedding festivities but the 52.58-carat diamond ring from the mines of Golconda in India truly caught our eye. It has been reported that this stunning rock belongs to the Mughal empire's jewellery collection. Additionally, also auctioned by Christie’s in 2019, the 'Mirror of Paradise' is a rectangular-cut rock with tapered baguette-cut diamonds, in flawless D colour. We absolutely loved this one.

For Anant and Radhika Ambani’s Shubh Aashirwad ceremony, sister Isha Ambani Piramal opted for a Manish Malhotra ensemble paired with a Navratan necklace handcrafted by the legendary jeweller Viren Bhagat. Ruby, emerald, blue sapphire, and yellow sapphire were among the nine gemstones that were reportedly from Nita Ambani's personal collection. The piece took almost three years to collect and make.

Isha Ambani Piramal was shining bright in Kanitilal Chhotalal’s Garden of Eden Necklace. This work of art is centered around a heart shaped blue diamond surrounded by portrait cut diamonds. Every diamond, a part of Nita Ambani’s personal collection of gems, told a story of history and craftsmanship.

American jewellery designer Lorraine Schwartz crafted a custom lion brooch made from vivid yellow diamonds for Anant Ambani. The lion featured emerald eyes and a giant diamond under its mane. Given his affection and admiration for animals, the groom adorned this jewelled piece for his wedding festivities.

Lorraine Schwartz, yet again, showcased her expertise in designing by crafting a custom-made brooch for Akash Ambani. The elephant brooch featured emeralds, rubies and yellow diamonds. What we loved the most was diamond tusks.

While the extravagance of the Ambani wedding might be beyond most of us, there's one aspect we can all appreciate: their unique approach to sharing jewellery within the family. Earlier this year, Nita Ambani donned a striking bazuband, which was actually the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan's kalgi. This rich history was carried forward when Anant Ambani wore the same piece at his wedding, symbolising the heirloom's significance. The kalgi, crafted from antique spinel, ruby, and diamonds, reportedly boasts a price tag of ₹200 crore and has been auctioned at the Christie's.

Sister of the groom, Isha Ambani Piramal a very special 1940s Van Cleef and Arpels Ballerina Brooch featuring jewels from the three act ballet-diamonds, emeralds, and rubies. The brooch was reportedly originally purchased by George Balenchine whose wife, Vera Zarina was depicted on the brooch in an arabesque pose. Isha Ambani chose to wear this iconic piece as a hairpin with her elegant half updo. The history of the brooch and the stunning use of it certainly left everyone in awe.
