My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

Whether you are a toughie or softie, this film is going to make you cry your heart out. Starring Julia Roberts as Julianne, Dermot Mulroney as Michael, and Cameron Diaz as Kimberly, the film is as much about pure friendship as it is about unrequited love. Julianne gets a shock when she learns that her best friend, Michael is about to get married and soon realises that she’s in love with him. Throughout the movie, she tries to navigate and make sense of her mixed emotions as she’s conflicted between being there for her friend and confessing her feelings to him. With just a few days to go to the wedding, we see her juggle the urge to sabotage and let go of her feelings and let him begin his happily ever after.

Runaway Bride (1999)

After their chemistry in Pretty Woman, Richard Gere and Julia Roberts light up the screen when they come together. Gere plays a journalist named Graham who is assigned to write a story about Maggie Carpenter (Roberts) who has been given the title of “the runaway bride” as she has left three grooms at the altar. After being fired for filing a lazy, factually incorrect piece, Graham strives to write a fact-based article on Carpenter and her upcoming fourth wedding, which he predicts will fail, too. While he’s a man on a mission, the unexpected takes place as he falls head over heels for this beautiful heartbreaker.

As a wedding planner, you’ve got a lot more than the decor and catering, if the groom is irresistibly good- looking! Jennifer Lopez, who plays Mary Fiore, a wedding planner in San Francisco falls in love with Steve Edison (Matthew McConaughey), so much so that she thinks that she’s found her one true love. But mixing business with pleasure is risking a whole lot of drama, and drama does ensue!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

Weddings aren’t just about two people tying the knot, but a union of their families as well. This film is about a Greek woman who falls in love with a non-Greek man and faces several obstacles as her family refuses to accept him. She is also attempting to deal with and discover her own identity. The film shows how the entire family buries their differences to celebrate the wedding of their loved one and also highlights how love transcends boundaries to unite people from different backgrounds. If you’ve got an inter-faith wedding, it’s the perfect inspiration you need before your big day.

27 Dresses (2008)

'Always the bridesmaid and never the bride' sums up the plot of the movie. Centred on the life of Jane (Katherine Heigl), a 27-time bridesmaid, who is shocked to see her younger sister, Tess announce her engagement to the man whom she secretly loves. And if that wasn’t enough, Jane soon discovers that Tess has taken their mother’s wedding dress and redesigned it for her big day. Watching how Jane gets her revenge and exposes her little sister’s dirty secrets makes the film entertaining to watch!

Bride Wars (2009)

Why have one bridezilla when you can get two in the same film? That happens when lifelong friends Emma and Liv (played by Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, respectively) accidentally schedule their dream wedding on the same date and at the same venue. What follows is them driving every single person crazy—themselves, their friends, and fiancés as they compete to see who gets to walk down the aisle that day. It’s bridezilla drama at its very best as Hathaway’s character Emma goes from being a sweet soul to a ruthless being in an instant, and is ready to do anything to ruin her friend’s big day. What happens at the end and who gets the venue is something we’ll leave to you to find out.
