Prettiest ways to use candle in your decor for a dreamy wedding

Place them on tables or hang them from the ceiling, they will add charm to the celebrations.

Candles are a mainstay at weddings, and for good reason. Illuminating the ambience, they bathe the venue in a romantic vibe, unrivalled by any other décor element. “Candles have a magical quality to them that make any space come to life; the light they emit is fluid and ever-changing, elevating it to look truly enchanting,” says Aashna Saran, founder and creative director, Aash Studio.

“Candles add intimacy, warmth, fragrance, and a whimsical feel to your space, and possess the power to make a lasting impression without crying for attention,” adds Anika Dhawan, founder, Rani Pink and Rani Pink Living. “Place clusters of candles under trees, or layer them across surfaces such as coffee tables and consoles. Terracotta kulhads as candleholders, taper candles in vibrant hues, and thick pillar candles set in tall and short glass jars add depth and dimension...these are just a few ways to enhance your space,” shares Dhawan.

Saran, on the other hand, makes a compelling case for using candles as hanging installations. “For a dreamy set-up, suspend candle canopies from the ceiling, or from trees. Through strategic placement, they can create a play of light and shadow, and even fragrance—think scented candles with personalised fragrances or the couple’s initials’... Such cutomisations can go a long way in making an impact.”

“One of the most foolproof, and captivating, ways to incorporate candles on your big day is to line your walkways with them. If executed intelligently, the repetitive use of a single element can help create a sense of harmony,” Saran adds. For Dhawan, the mitti ka diya (earthen lamp) is a must at the quintessential Indian wedding. “I have always dreamt of creating an oasis with layers of diyas…you almost feel like you’re in a sunken garden of lights!” Dhawan says.
