Katrina Kaif Pays Homage to Her Mother's British Heritage During Her Pre-Wedding Festivities

The latest photographs from the #Vickat wedding just dropped, and we can't keep calm.

The #Vickat wedding has been trending on social media—and for all the right reasons. Just a few hours ago, Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram to share glimpses from one of their pre-wedding ceremonies; dreamy and surreal, to say the least.

After donning lehenga after lehenga for the haldi, mehendi, and wedding pheras, it was refreshing to see the actor opt for a sari for the celebratory event. Picking another Sabyasachi creation, the actor wore a vintage-inspired couture sari with a trailing veil.

In the words of the master couturier himself, "Silhouetted like a white wedding gown, the pastel tulle sari was embellished with hand-cut English flowers, embroidered by craftswomen from Bengal, and liberally sprinkled with semi-precious gems and crystals. The ensemble took 40 artisans over 1800 hours to handcraft."

The gorgeous bride-to-be accessorised her outfit with a statement uncut diamond choker detailed with opals and pale Russian emeralds and matching earrings, all from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery.

Her dashing groom complemented her by throwing on a Bangalore silk-embroidered sherwani and matching churidar with Sabyasachi gold plated Bengal Tiger buttons.

In keeping with the Western tradition, Katrina Kaif also held a bridal bouquet—a practice that dates to antiquity—featuring white chrysanthemums, baby's breath, tuberose, and other exotic flowers. According to historical evidence, the flowers in a bridal bouquet symbolise a new beginning and brings hope of fertility, happiness, and fidelity.

While a concept seeped in tradition, flower symbolism may not stand true in today's day. The bouquet has grown to become a beautiful accessory, an accompaniment that ties the bridal ensemble with the décor, theme, and surroundings. If you notice, the actor has painstakingly opted for an assortment of flowers that pair well with her Sabyasachi attire.
