8 locations in Mumbai for a memorable pre-wedding shoot

A dream photo shoot in the City of Dreams.

The city of Mumbai is filled with cute, iconic spots with varied backdrops—bustling streets, stunning sea-face promenades, heritage structures, lush landscape, it has it all. Here, we pick some of the best locations, where you and your bae can pose and capture beautiful moments.

Horniman Circle, Fort

This is one of my most favourite places in South Mumbai. The area is doused in history and has become the go-to place for all those who want to enjoy a slice of culture and art. It is the perfect mix of classic and contemporary, and forms a stunning backdrop for your pre-wedding shoot.

If you have lived and loved in Mumbai, there is no way you haven't spent hours walking the Marine Drive promenade or sat hand-in-hand staring into the sea. Early mornings, lazy afternoons, cosy evenings, this place is beautiful at all times! Also known as the Queen’s Necklace, it is inarguably one of the best spots for your wedding photographer to work his magic. It’s time to capture that picture-perfect moment where it’s the Arabian Sea, the city’s picturesque skyline, the love of your life, and the city that you can’t stop loving.

Gateway of India

The city’s most famous landmark is much more than a tourist spot. Look around and you’ll realise how apt the place is for a pre-wedding photo shoot. Come to think of it, it’s also symbolic of the ‘gateway’ to your new beginnings and firsts in your life. What’s more, you don’t just have the Gateway of India to shoot at, there's also the iconic and magnificent Taj Mahal Palace opposite it. If you’ve lived in the city long enough, you’d probably know that the best time to get your pre-wedding shoot done here is the morning—the earlier, the better. Don’t even think about doing it in the evening. You just won’t have the space to do so.

Kala Ghoda

If you’re going to the above-mentioned Horniman Circle, just walk ahead to Kala Ghoda. You’ll be spoilt for choice here—there's a blue synagogue, a horse painted on the Khyber Wall, as well as art galleries and wide pavements. Take your pick.

Vasai Fort

The location where Coldplay’s famous song Hymn for the Weekend was shot, Vasai Fort is great for couples who’d love a backdrop of ruins for their pre-wedding shoot (you don't need to think of a song now!). The spot, with old walls and plants creeping through and around them, makes for a pre-wedding photo shoot spot that’s all things calm and representative of an old-world charm. So, it’s time for you to capture a moment that you will cherish forever.

Hanging Gardens
If you’re thinking about bringing out the children in you or want to relive your childhood, let the famous giant shoe at Hanging Gardens be the perfect backdrop for a photo op. Situated at the top of the Malabar Hills, you have a scenic location that overlooks the Arabian Sea. That’s not all, the garden is full of plant sculptures and fences that will add all the cuteness and charm to the pictures.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park

If you are a couple who loves to spend time in nature's lap, you won’t find any place better than Sanjay Gandhi National Park. A flowing stream, a narrow railway track, and lots of trees. It’s a park so large that you’d probably end up shooting at places you didn’t even have in mind or know that they ever existed. If you’re lucky, you’d probably even get a monkey in a shot.

Asiatic Library

The iconic structure, known for its Greek-style architecture, is a Mumbai landmark and is known for its grandeur and elegance. The pillars, staircase that lead to an elevated 19th-century building, and the street in the front together make it one of the loveliest pre-wedding photoshoot locations in Mumbai. You can choose to be decked up in your most colorful outfits against the white structure, or go down the vintage route and have black-and-white shoot. Rest assured it’ll be elegant all the way.
