From ensuring all the arrangements are made, to anticipating last-minute changes, the nervousness is probably unending. But here’s the thing: you’re about to get married. You want to be able to soak in every waking moment of this once-in-a-lifetime experience, without having to worry about every minute detail. So, to help calm those nerves, we recommend getting into your favourite silk pyjamas, load up with your go-to munchies and make sure you have your besties by your side as you watch a cheesy rom-com together. We've done the work for you with this list of feel-good movies. 

Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement 

In this sequel to the iconic Princess Diaries movie, Princess Mia is all set to take the throne. But there’s a catch. She must be married in order to become the Queen. Now settled in Genovia, she begins the search for the perfect man for her, not only as a loving husband and companion but also a partner who will support her in leading the country. This romantic-comedy, with clichéd moments and a cheesy ending is just what you need for a bout of laughter and happy tears before you say ‘I do.’ 

Band Baja Baaraat 

Here’s one for all those Bollywood fans—it can't get filmier and crazier than this. Band Baja Baaraat takes us through the journey of two wedding planners-turned-lovers and the crazy shenanigans that are part of the big fat Indian wedding. From exceptional catering to looking into every small detail, the movie is a rollercoaster of a ride. Watch it with your girls, for an evening filled with laughter, as you reminisce the fun but chaotic days of planning your wedding. 

Father of the Bride

This cult-favourite romantic-comedy starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton is the perfect film to watch with your family, a day before the wedding. The film is a blend of warmth, nostalgia and love as it takes you through the story of the wedding of 22-year-old Annie, through the perspective of her father, George. The film is endearing in its dialogues and emotional scenes, and will leave you smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy. 

Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani 

A Bollywood favourite, watch this Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone-starrer for its feel-good element, high energy and celebratory and vibrant scenes. Dance along to catchy wedding songs and mimic the dialogues with your best friends. You can even skip to the dreamy destination wedding sequence shot in Udaipur, to fully immerse yourself in the emotions and laughter that ensue.  

Runaway Bride 

You’re probably not the only one with cold feet and this film is here to tell you that. Maggie Carpenter (played by Julia Roberts), has been labelled as the ‘Runaway Bride,’ by a city journalist for having left three grooms at the altar! After realising that his research was not completely fact-checked, he set off on a journey to find her, as she was about to step onto the altar for the fourth time. Of course, the two fall for each other at the end of the movie. 

Mamma Mia 

Another perfect film to watch with your Tanya and Rosie, is Mamma Mia. A 20-something-year-old Sophie, daughter of Donna Sheridan, is ready to tie the knot with her beau, but not until she knows who her father is—so she calls the three possible men who could. The film is an absolute musical adventure that you can sing and dance along to with your besties! 

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge

Watch this forever favourite film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, for a dose of tears, romance, fun and dance. This romantic drama takes you through a gamut of emotions, ultimately ending on an extremely happy note. Tune out of the worries that you may be experiencing and distract yourself with this eternal classic.
