6 Resolutions That Every Bride-to-be Needs to Make

A nutritionist’s guide to what to eat, what not to eat and the lifestyle tweaks to make before your wedding day

Every bride wants to look her best on the wedding day and the days leading up to the altar can be quite stressful. You would be stressed about finding the right pre-wedding diet, workout plan and booking sessions at the salon for the glow inducing facials at the last minute. However, Veronica Kumra, Certified Holistic Nutritionist and Lifestyle Coach suggests a few tips that could make you glow for a longer time and not just on the wedding day and that too without any stress.

Here’s some expert advice that will lower your stress levels and help you prep smart for your wedding.

1.Choose a sustainable nutrition program as early as possible that is customized to your lifestyle and targets all your concerns& goals both long-term and short-term (such as fat loss, glowing skin, luscious hair, improved mood & sleep, better gut & hormone health) and doesn’t even feel like a “diet”. This way you would have created a strong foundation for a glowing you from the inside that would reflect on the outside on your big day.

Perk:  No bounce-back weight gain or acne breakouts

2: Choose a physical activity you enjoy and would look forward to repeating every day of the week. It could be as simple as going out for a walk in the morning, pilates, weight training, tabata, spin class, a mix of everything, or any other form of physical activity that is fun for you.

Perk: This will not only help sculpt your body but also curb all the wedding preparation stress.

Choose a well-balanced whole food diet. Your 3 major meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) should be based on a good source of protein, healthy fats, vegetables and a small portion of whole grains. Besides that, you must eat a rainbow of different coloured vegetables, salads & fruits. This will help keep sugar cravings and snacking in between meals at bay. Avoid starchy carbs and excessive sodium as it may cause unnecessary bloating and inflammation.

Perk: Your face and body both will look chiseled and your outfit will look even more flattering on the D-day.

4. Make sure your diet is rich in antioxidants and omega-3s. This means you must incorporate good sources of healthy fats and antioxidants in your daily nutrition like nuts, seeds, and avocado, olive oil, salmon, eggs, berries, leafy greens and a small amount of dark chocolate. These are key ingredients of a skin-healthy diet to help stimulate collagen production and skin cell recovery.

Perk: Youthful and glowing skin on the day of your wedding.

5. Avoid dairy, processed foods, excessive sugar and caffeine as much as possible food is the main trigger for acne, dehydrated skin and stress. Instead, drink plenty of water and liquids like freshly pressed juices, coconut water, and herbal teas to cleanse your system and flush out toxins from your body.

Perk: Your skin will become supple, hydrated and glow.

6: Prioritize your sleep. There's research-backed facts that prove lack of sleep can lead to a bevy of health problems. Make sure you get a minimum of 7-8 hours of sound sleep every single day.

Perk: Glowing skin, no under-eye dark circles and a visibly relaxed you.
