Living Through the Pandemic

“The décor was elegant, fresh, and young, and even though we had to make some changes, most of our themes, flow of events, and the larger picture remained the same. I wish more friends and family could have joined us on this special day, but when I look back, I am grateful that it worked out this way. My paternal family has Rajput lineage and this brought me closer to my roots.”

Any advice for brides-to-be or couples entering the wedding planning process?

“Don’t try to micromanage. Let your friends, family, and vendors help you. Let things flow, breathe, and detach from the need to control everything yourself.”

Any anecdotes or memorable moments from the wedding?

“We had originally wanted to celebrate in Bahrain, but because of the pandemic, we shifted it to Jaipur between Jai Mahal Palace and Rambagh Palace. The highlight was the custom-made gown by Elie Saab that I wore to the reception.”

Was there a formal proposal?

“Shahrukh planned a surprise proposal for me while we were vacationing in Bahrain. He took cues from the hints I had been dropping earlier, suggestions from friends, and advice from the team at Mpire  Events... It was a dream proposal: there was a gorgeously-lit path, leading to canopied table seating with fairy lights, candles, and roses, with the backdrop of the sunset and ocean.”

How did the two of you meet each other?

“We began chatting on Facebook four years ago, and one fine day, he asked me out on a date. It was too quick for me, though, and we stopped talking soon after. But destiny had other plans for us. We met later through a mutual friend, and finally went for our date (which lasted hours), and haven't stopped speaking since. It was meant to be.”
