Shweta Kapur and Raghav Gupta share their journey from best friends to life partners
Shweta Kapur, creative director of fashion brand 431-88, and entrepreneur Raghav Gupta share their love story on how they went from being best friends to soulmates.
What happens when two close pals realise they were a lot more than just best friends? They decide to make each other their forever. Shweta Kapur, creative director of 431-88, and entrepreneur Raghav Gupta reveal the story of how they met, what clicked, and how it led to marriage and their happily ever after.
How we met
“We first met a few years ago through mutual friends. Delhi is a pretty small city, so it was bound to happen. We ended up at the same friend’s house, and since we were from the same school, we connected instantly. That’s when things started to click, and we began dating three years ago.”
The next step
“We had quite an on again, off again relationship. But through it all, we remained really close friends. In fact, he’s one of my best friends. I think it was at that point that I realised that the strongest relationships are based on friendship. And who else would you marry if not your best friend? That’s when we decided to take the leap and get engaged.”
Leading up to the big day
“Wedding planning was honestly quite systematic at first, but it got chaotic towards the end. I spent a whole year planning. I really wanted to be creative, push the limits of how things are usually done and explore what could be done differently. I was very hands-on with everything—right from the design of the invites to the décor and how the communication was sent out. I managed to put together a great team that helped me along the way. Despite the chaos, wedding planning was a lot of fun.”
Memories that will last a lifetime
“I think a wedding is when you experience so much love, and that’s truly special. It’s amazing to realise how all our friends, family and everyone who loves us come together in one place at the same time. There are so many memories, but what really stands out for me is how many of my friends showed up for me. They literally stopped their lives for those three days, just for me, and I’ll be forever grateful for that.” MY ADVICE “Marry your best friend. When it comes to planning the wedding, do it in a way that reflects who you are and what you love. Trends may come and go, but your wedding should be about what makes you truly happy.”
