Don’t let the weather rain on your parade!

Coming up with unique or fun date ideas can sometimes be cumbersome, and when you have to factor in rainy weather, the task becomes even more difficult. Planning dates during monsoon can be tricky, thanks to sudden downpours, puddles everywhere, and the high chance of getting stuck in traffic.

The next time you’re wondering what to do with your partner when it’s pouring outside, check out these ideas for inspiration.

Enjoy a cosy indoor picnic

On days when it’s raining so heavily that the mere thought of stepping out of the house seems impossible, stay in and spend some quality together with your boo. Not going out doesn’t mean you have to spend all your time indoors mindlessly scrolling through your phone—a cosy picnic is a good idea if you want to do something different. Prep some snacks, bring out some card games, lay down a blanket (preferably near a window with a nice view), and cuddle up! We can’t think of anything more romantic than being in your partner’s company with the pitter-patter of the rain in the background.

Pick a cute café for a hot chocolate date

You don’t have to wait till winter to enjoy hot chocolate, which happens to be the most comforting drinks of all time (we don’t make the rules!). One of the best things about rainy season is that it’s prime warm beverage season, and what better way to spend a rainy date than at a cute café, sipping on a mug of hot chocolate with your loved one?

Go for a long drive

If either of you know how to drive, then another great idea for a monsoon date is to go on a long, romantic drive. Remember, it’s the journey that matters, not the destination—you could drive to a nearby town, sightseeing point, or even a restaurant you both like that is a few miles away. What is important is to have ample of snacks for the road and a banger playlist.

Visit an art gallery or a museum

While monsoon may not be the best time to have more outdoor dates—no one wants to get drenched in the rains, unless that’s your idea of romance—but it is the ideal season to explore the indoor spaces that the city you live in has to offer. From museums and art galleries, to exhibitions, there are plenty of places to explore with your partner.

Go on a monsoon trek

For the adventurous couples, who love the outdoors and are not deterred by pouring rain or muddy trails, a monsoon trek will qualify as the perfect date. Hills, valleys, and ghats come alive with colour during this time of the year and are an inviting lush green, peppered with seasonal waterfalls, making for a beautiful view!
