Living Through a Pandemic

Since Harsh is a doctor by profession, the pandemic has posed a unique set of challenges for us. And at the same time, it has provided us the opportunity to settle in our home. Plus, we have all the time in the world to plan our honeymoon!

My Advice

Once the wedding fever kicked in, we only focused on enjoying ourselves and didn’t sweat the small stuff. It is truly important for the newlyweds to just focus on each other. I would also suggest allowing one person to take the lead on wedding planning, in order to avoid any hiccups throughout the process.

The Big Day

I always wanted a forest-themed wedding, since both Harsh and I grew up in the lap of nature. Each décor element—from the circular mandap to the stunning chandeliers suspended from the tree—was straight out of a dream. For the sundowner, Aashna Saran came up with the theme ‘Whimsical Love’, featuring pops of neon, OTT quirky elements, and dreamy lighting. It was unmatched to anything I have ever seen at a wedding!

The Next Step

In 2013, when Harsh visited me in New York, he asked if I would marry him. We were 22 at that time. While this wasn’t a formal proposal, it was very natural for us to come to the realisation that we wanted to be together. The actual proposal was a mere formality: he went down on his knee at a family farmhouse at Chikhaldara, on New Year’s Eve 2016, with a beautiful yellow diamond that he had picked out himself.

How We Met

Harsh and I met at the age of 12, at boarding school. A year later, we had fallen in love! We spent two beautiful years together at the secluded hilltop where our school was, before separating as we resided in different cities. It was in 2012 when I visited from New York and happened to attend his bar launch party in Pune. We got back together that evening and, nine years later we are married.
