Everything that I would put in my dream bridesmaid proposal boxes
Bridesmaid proposal boxes have become their own corner of the internet, and I'm just as obsessed with watching them as everyone else.
Bridesmaid proposal boxes are one of my favourite forms of internet escapism. I'll happily watch someone unwrap monogrammed pyjamas, personalised jewellery and enough beauty products to stock a small retailer, despite not having a wedding anywhere on my horizon.
And while most people dream about planning the dress, the venue or the flowers, I've realised I'd be far more interested in planning the bridesmaid proposal boxes. So, in the spirit of pure fantasy, here's exactly what I'd put in mine if money were no object: a mix of fashion, beauty, travel and a few wildly indulgent gifts that my friends would actually be excited to receive.
A girls' trip to Japan (and a vintage designer bag shopping spree)
If we're starting anywhere, it's Japan. Instead of placing a designer bag inside the box, I'd fly my bridesmaids to Tokyo and Osaka for a long weekend dedicated to shopping, eating and exploring.
The main event would be a day spent combing through the legendary vintage luxury stores, each friend armed with a budget to find the bag they've been dreaming about. Maybe it's a rare Fendi Baguette, a Chanel 25, a perfectly worn-in Birkin or something they didn't even know they wanted until they spotted it. The best part isn't the bag itself—it's the thrill of finding it together, followed by celebratory ramen and several hundred photos documenting the occasion.
A signature scent designed by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
A bridesmaid proposal box should contain at least one thing that's completely unnecessary and impossibly chic. Enter: a custom fragrance created with Maison Francis Kurkdjian.
Rather than giving everyone the same perfume, each scent would be tailored to the person receiving it. One friend might end up with something built around orange blossom and neroli, another with notes of vanilla, rose and sandalwood. Every time they wear it, they'll think of the wedding, and more importantly, me.
Unlimited flights for a year
The older I get, the more convinced I become that convenience is the ultimate luxury. Suddenly every "Should we go?" text in the group chat becomes an actual possibility.
A long weekend in Seoul because someone found a café on TikTok? Booked. A spontaneous trip to Copenhagen? Why not. A girls' weekend somewhere warm because everyone's tired of being perceived? Absolutely. More than anything, it's a gift of spontaneity.
The concert of their dreams
Everyone has an artist who temporarily becomes their entire personality. For some people it's Charli XCX. For others it's Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo or Bad Bunny.
This gift would include VIP tickets, flights, accommodation and every extra imaginable. No stress, no resale prices that require a small loan and no fighting for tickets online. Just the perfect concert experience built around whoever currently dominates their Spotify Wrapped.
The ultimate beauty enabler starter pack
Every friendship group has at least one person responsible for everyone else's spending habits.
I'd fill an enormous beauty trunk with every product my friends have ever convinced me to buy: the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro, a complete Rhode routine, Victoria Beckham Liners, Armani Eye Tints, Hourglass powders, Summer Fridays lip balms in every flavour, a full Huda Beauty accessory kit complete with brushes, puffs and minis, the latest viral hair tools and enough skincare to stock a small boutique. Think of it as a beauty starter pack built entirely from years of mutual enabling.
A friendship time capsule
As a professional hoarder and committed junk journal enthusiast, this might be my favourite gift on the list. I'd create a beautifully bound friendship archive filled with old photos, concert tickets, birthday cards, holiday memories, photo booth strips, screenshots of ridiculous conversations and all the tiny pieces of ephemera that somehow end up defining a friendship.
Equal parts scrapbook, time capsule and emotional support document, it's the one thing on this list that would probably make me cry.
A year long flower subscription
Of everything here, this might be the gift I'd secretly want most myself. There's something incredibly luxurious about always having fresh flowers in your home, but it's also one of those indulgences most people struggle to justify regularly.
A year long flower subscription solves that problem beautifully. One month might bring peonies, another garden roses, another armfuls of seasonal blooms chosen by a florist.
The best bridesmaid proposal boxes aren't necessarily the most expensive ones, they're the ones that feel personal. Mine would just happen to involve custom perfume, designer bags in Tokyo and enough beauty products to trigger a Sephora spending ban. Thankfully, this is all hypothetical. For now, I'll stick to watching other people's proposal box videos and taking notes.
