Aditya and Amala’s musical wedding hit all the right notes at Umaid Bhawan
A love story born in school music rooms found its crescendo in a soul-stirring celebration at Umaid Bhawan Palace.
When music becomes your first love language, it’s only natural for your wedding to feel like a beautifully composed symphony. For Aditya Srinivasan and Amala Garg, who first met as 12-year-olds and found their rhythm through music, their recent nuptials at the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, were nothing short of a lyrical masterpiece—intimate, personal, and resonant with joy.
Their journey began in the music rooms of Ecole Mondiale and later, the American School of Bombay, where their friendship grew over shared performances in musicals, talent shows, and jazz band trips. As teenagers harmonising on stage and bonding over jam sessions, they unknowingly began composing the soundtrack of a lifetime.
Years apart during college—Aditya pursuing computer science at Duke, and Amala studying business at Northwestern—didn’t dull their connection. If anything, it grew stronger. Reunited in New York, their relationship picked up right where it left off, once again centered around music. Together, they recorded covers, discovered new artists, and deepened their bond through this ever-shared passion.
Aditya’s proposal reflected this beautifully. On their fourth anniversary, he surprised Amala with an impromptu private concert mid-jam session, featuring professional musicians disguised as passersby. As they played 'Float' by HARBOUR—the couple’s special song—Aditya dropped to one knee. A hidden photographer captured the raw emotion of the moment: Amala’s tearful yes to a love story years in the making.
This sense of spontaneity and emotional depth translated seamlessly into their wedding celebrations at Umaid Bhawan Palace. Steeped in history and grandeur, the venue echoed with the melodies of their shared past and the joyous rhythm of their future. The heart of the celebration? Music, of course.
Legendary singer Usha Uthup—Aditya’s great-aunt—graced the wedding with a soulful performance that brought the house down. In a moment straight out of a dream, Amala and Aditya joined her on stage, singing together as if no time had passed since those high school performances.
Yet the wedding wasn't only about music—it was also about meaning. Amala wore her mother’s wedding lehenga, untouched and unaltered, for her chooda ceremony, honouring generational love and tradition. In a moment that surprised and delighted guests, Aditya—an avid marathoner—ran on a treadmill during his baraat, proving once again that this was no ordinary wedding. Their “sporty vs. stylish” party defied convention, encouraging guests to celebrate their personalities instead of conforming to traditional themes.
Captured exquisitely by Raabta by Shrey Bhagat, the celebrations were intimate yet grand, deeply personal yet universally moving. Every frame told a story—not just of a wedding, but of a life lived in harmony, of two souls who found each other through shared chords and stayed in tune through time.
Aditya and Amala’s wedding wasn’t just an event—it was a composition. A perfect blend of emotion, expression, and evolution. A celebration where love, like the best music, was felt in every note.
